Spring Has Sprung - And Other Stuff ....

Well it’s the first full day of spring and as you would expect the sun is shining, the birds are singing and people are out and about soaking up the warmth and enjoying the outdoors.

Or, it’s snowing like hell…

Yeah, welcome to spring bitches!   Luckily the temps are actually above freezing and will probably stay there tonight.  So, if that snow ever stops falling, it will melt away pretty fast.  And, to be honest with ya, getting snow this late in the season isn’t all that unheard of.  When I was in college, way back in the day, we hot a massive snowstorm on St. Patrick’s Day one year.  I think it was something like 18 inches.  It wiped out spring break.

I had a dream this weekend that I was sitting in a car in the middle of the interstate and the car wouldn’t move forward.  If I touched the gas it would back up.  Even if I tried to put it in drive, it would moved backwards when I hit the gas.  Traffic was moving so fast and people were swerving to go around me.  I kept thinking I was going to get hit from behind, but I never did.

People were screaming at me as they went around me too.  Telling me to get out of the way or to get going.  Lots of people flipped me off.  I kept trying to explain my situation, but they were all way on down the road before I could say anything.

I think this one is pretty easy to interpret.  I feel like I’m just sitting here and the whole world is whizzing right past me.  And everything I try to do only makes me go in reverse.

I think I prefer Nyquil induced talking rats dreams to these reality based depressing dreams.

Have you guys seen the new ads from Taco Bell for their new shrimp taco thingy?  There’s no way in hell I’m ever gonna try that.  First of all because I love shrimp.  I could eat shrimp every single day if I lived where I could get it fresh.  Like if I lived in a fishing village somewhere, I would be having shrimp cocktail for lunch every day and then grilled, steamed, fried or whatever shrimp with dinner most every night.  So, there’s no way Imma gonna let Taco Bell ruin that for me by my trying a shrimp taco that will probably result in flaming asshole and/or worshiping at the porcelain  alter.

Also, because Taco Bell needs to stay in their lane.  Just stick with what they do best already.  Tacos, burritos and festive Mexican pizza and Tex-Mex type fast food stuff.  It serves a great purpose just the way it is.  Usually as great drunk food at 2 am.  In fact, I think Taco Bell is the best drunk food ever.  But, shrimp tacos from someone who doesn’t do seafood already just doesn’t seem right.

So anyone watch the new series on FX called “Justified” which is based on Elmore Leonard’s short story “Fire in the Hole?”  I was really ready for this show to start.  I’ve been hearing about it since last fall.  And, while it might not have blown me away, I did really like it.  It had a great opening ratings wise, so I’m hoping it gets better and better and turns into another long running spring/summer show worth watching.  At least it will provide enough shootin' and blowin' shit up until “Sons of Anarchy” comes back in the fall.

Timothy Olyphant is great as the old school US Marshall who gets sent back to his home state of Kentucky and has to try to lay down the law even if it means taking on people he grew up with.  Olyphant is great at playing the guy who almost, but not quite covers up that burning anger that rages in side of him.  He’s calm and cool all the time, but the anger shows on his face.

I’m not completely sure what direction the show is going to take.  I think it’s going to be a different adventure each week with Raylan Givens (Olyphant) having to take on bad guys and protect good guys, but with an underlying running storyline about his return home and his having to deal with all that goes along with that.  So I think I like where it’s going.  I hope it  lives up to the hype the rest of the way.
