They’re all connected …
Look, a cheater is a cheater, whether he's a politician, entertainer, athlete or just a guy down the block. I have the same lack of respect for any and all of them. That said, Letterman isn't a politician who has spent his life sitting in judgment of others while portraying himself as perfect. He also hasn't compared himself to King David, nor has he done some interview with his wife sitting next to him saying that he doesn't have to answer to anyone because God has already forgiven him. As if he and God sat down and worked out over a couple of beers.
Of course, there are a lot of people out there, mostly "feminist" writers for snooty newspapers like the New York Times, and a couple of the ladies of "The View" who are waving the sexual harassment flag even though none has been alleged by ANY woman who has EVER worked for Letterman. The media is doing everything it can to try to find someone, ANYONE to come out make allegations of sexual harassment against Letterman. But, so far none have.
Sorry ladies, but you can't play the victim card on other people's behalf. If any woman who has ever worked for Letterman were to come out, without being paid to do so, and tell us that Letterman punished women who didn't sleep with him or made sleeping with him a requirement for a job or promotion or anything like that, then I'll revisit this issue. But, until then, it just looks like we have consenting adults agreeing to engage in adult behavior. And, as hard as it is for some people to believe, women are fully capable of making the decision to enter into adult relationships without being forced or manipulated into it.
Also, we now find out that Jimmy Kimmel is dating one of HIS writers. Where's the outrage? Or does Kimmel's show not get enough ratings for it to be worth it to go after him too? I know the ladies of The View can't hold Kimmel to the same standard as they do Letterman since he works for their network, so it will be up to the feminist writers to carry the load on this one.
As for Jessica Simpson, last Sunday on their football preview show, Fox ran a truly cruel and viscous animated video. It was supposed to be making fun of Cowboys QB Tony Romo, but the whole video actually focused on Jessica Simpson allegedly being "Fat." It was probably the most mean spirited thing I've seen in a long time.
Again, were are all the ladies of The View and the feminist writers now? Maybe if they weren't so obsessed with where David Letterman was putting his penis, they could take a minute or two to defend women from attacks on their body shape by the Neanderthals at Fox.
“Fat” Jessica…
Which also brings me to Megan McCain. Ms McCain is a bit of a Twitter Superstar. She is quite popular on there and spends a fair amount of time interacting with people through it. Like many of us, she likes to post pics. Wed night she posted this pic of her kicking it at home...
Well needless to say Twitter lit up like Rockefeller Center at Christmas time. Of the hundreds and hundreds of responses she got, some were rather negative. Their were some people who called her a "slut" and others who called her "fat."
Believe or not, Megan was a bit upset by this reaction. I don't know why either. I did a search for replies to Megan and actually found that the positive responses outnumbered the negative ones by at least 200 to 1. Honesty, there were only a handful of negative responses.
But, Megan made the mistake that so many people make. She issued an apology to anyone who was "offended" by her pic.
Please stop doing this people. Nobody was offended by the pic. It's all so fake. And once you issue the apology they've won. They now feel empowered to go after you for even less significant things.
Seriously Megan, don't give in to these people.
Oh that’s right, I forgot. According some people, Jessica and Megan deserve this treatment. Just like ESPN’s Erin Andrews “wanted” to have some perv take a hidden camera video of her and post it on the net, or that she “had it coming.”
And it’s amazing how many of the people who say these terrible things about Jessica and Megan are women. Something that the red hot Dianne talked about in her post today. (Well, she talked about women's body image, but she included women trashing other women.)
You gotta wonder how these people would have treated Marilyn Monroe if she were around today. I guess she’d be too fat too…
