Kim Kardashian vs Paris Hilton song

Kim Kardashian vs Paris Hilton songKim Kardashian has often followed, intentionally or not, in the footsteps of fellow socialite Paris Hilton. Both women have privileged backgrounds, became well-known pop culture symbols, earned notoriety via sex tapes and used their fame into hit reality TV shows. Now, Kim has set her sights on the music world. Football Saturday Week 4 (I Think)...

I'm just barely getting my picks in before the games start.  So no time to entertain you with my fun and HIGHlarious stories this week. But, you DO still get the disclaimer...

*Disclaimer: I don't know what I'm talking about and have never and will never present myself as any kind of authority on either gambling or the game of football.  So, if you are such a desperate fucking degenerate that you will use the picks of some random, probably intoxicated guy on the blogosphere, then you deserve all the terrible things that happen to you in life.  Enjoy living in your van down by the river and dining on the yummy soup served every evening at the Salvation Army loser.

My pick in bold:

Alabama -7 @ Arkansas ... All I want from the Hogs today is for us NOT to get embarrassed.  Is that really too much to ask? Probably.

South Carolina +3 @ Auburn ... I guess I've been convinced that the Cocks really are good.  *sigh*

Oregon -12 @ Arizona St. ... My honorary alma mater just can't seem to get over the hump.  And WHY is ASU my honorary alma mater, you ask?
Photobucket

New Mexico +22 @ Kansas ... I've spent some time in Kansas.  Uh yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say about that place.

N.C. State + 7.5 @ Georgia Tech ... I guess that little slip up at Kansas was just some kind of crazy bad day for Tech.  We'll see.

Temple +13 @ Penn St. ... Penn St. is fine as long as they don't venture south of the Mason Dixon Line.

Oregon St. +16 @ Boise St. ... We're being sold a bill of goods on this game.  OSU isn't very good at all. They're only ranked to try to help ESPN/ABC market this game.

Okay, NFL picks ...

Cincy -3 @ Carolina ... This is a fucking gift.

Washington -4 @ St. Louis ... Vegas is handing out free money people!!

Oakland +4.5 @ Arizona ... Cardinals suck great big sweaty nasty balls.

Philly -2.4 @ Jacksonville ... We're all gonna be stinkin' rich after this week!

San Diego -5 @ Seattle ... Can I find another road favorite to cover? This is crazy.

I like San Diego's cheerleaders...

There you go.  They all seem so easy to pick.  Now watch me lose 'em all. Enjoy the games anyway.

And don't forget to listen to "Drunken Adventures and Hangovers" on "I'm With Stupid" Sunday morning at 11 am eastern time!

Gambling Observances...

I’m a gambler.  I enjoy it a lot.  In my own mind I’m a wild, hard-drinking, big money betting gambler who drives a big fancy Cadillac and hangs out at the fanciest casinos with a hawt stripper by my side while I’m playing big money on the blackjack table or in the sports books.  Of course in reality I’m a super risk averse better who only plays the games that have the lowest house advantage.  But, I prefer to go with that first image of myself for my dreams.

And, I am totally and completely convinced that I could make money off both playing blackjack and betting on sports.  I base this on my belief that I could be disciplined enough to leave the table when things aren’t going well and to only bet the games that I absolutely knew I was right about who would cover.  The fact that I have this vision of my super-disciplined self while I’m munching away on Nacho Cheese Doritos and throwing back 16 oz cans of Coors Light is completely irrelevant and I would prefer you not ruin for me thankyouverymuch.

Anyway, what brought all this on was my good friend Scott’s hilarious Gonzo-esque post earlier this week about one of his most dramatic gambling experiences.  I told him that it reminded me of two great gambling experiences of my own.  But, what’s different about my experiences is that I was only an observer for each of these.

Experience #1:  When I was in high school my mother and I went out to the local country club that she was still a member of for dinner and for her to sit and talk with some people we were meeting there.  That same night Arkansas was playing a basketball game against Nebraska.

The game was very close throughout even though Arkansas had a much better team and was heavily favored.  I sat at a table with ST, who was a local business man and watched the game.  Late in the game Arkansas pulled away and opened a double digit lead and both ST and I were feeling good about things.  Nebraska hit a couple of late baskets and Arkansas committed a couple of turnovers which resulted in the Hogs winning by only 5.

I was still pleased because Arkansas won.  ST, on the other hand wasn’t.  He got up, slammed his chair back against the table and angrily said “If you can’t cover why bother winning!” Then he stomped out of the room and kicked another chair on his way out.  It was then that I realized that he was watching the game for a far different reason than I was.

Experience #2 came in Vegas.  I was sitting in the sports book at the old Stardust, which doesn’t exist anymore watching The Chicago Bulls vs NJ Nets.  I didn’t have any money on this game, but had won a big bet* earlier in the evening on The Knicks victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.  At this point though I was just enjoying the free nachos and beer** and watching the Bulls game.

The Bulls were a 12 point favorite and had a 14 point lead with only a few seconds remaining.  The Nets had the ball and seemed to be content to let the clock run out.  With one second left a NJ player launched about a 40 foot jump shot.  As soon as he shot it about half the people in the sports book jumped to their feet yelling “NOOOOOOOOOOOOO”  …

Swish

The Bulls won by 11.  Everyone who had yelled “NO” collapsed back into their seats as if they had been waiting for their wife to give berth and had been told the baby didn’t make it.  They were destroyed.  I’ve never seen such a look of defeat on the face of any man before or since that moment.  I felt bad for them.

Poor dumb bastards.

* By “big bet” I mean $20.  Which I later placed into a stripper’s g-string after a lap dance.  Which turned out to be another winning bet that I made that night.

** This was back in the days when Vegas could do no wrong and before the great financial collapse and recession of the last few years.  I think free food and drink at the sports books is impossible to find anymore.

Oh and my worst bet ever?  The $110 bet I placed on Arkansas in the 1995 NCAA championship game against UCLA.  To this day I’m convinced that I jinxed Arkansas with that bet. YOU GET NO CREDIT FOR THAT WIN UCLA!!

Vegas Dreams and WWC ...

Before we get to the WWC I have to tell you about my dream the other night. It kind of features Tink, and since Tuesday is Tink Day, I figured today was the day to tell the dream.

So a whole bunch of us were in Vegas for a big blog party. Or we just happened to all be there at the same time. at least. I don't who all was there, but it was a pretty good crowd. Some of the highlights ...

Carmen was out lovely and charming host, of course.

Knight was singing for us. It was really beautiful too!

Lu, Brad and Scarlet were all up on a table tops dancing. Fully clothed, unfortunately. ;-)

Dana had won some pretty decent money at Blackjack.

Matt-Man and Schmoop were saving money by carrying their own Wild Irish Rose in paper bags and drinking from the bottle. They're frugal like that I guess.

Anyway, at some point a bunch of left and went somewhere. I'm guessing it was a strip club, but I don't remember. The whole time we were there the tequila, wine and beer were all flowing freely. And we were all having a REALLY good time.

Except Tink. Tink wasn't happy for some reason and it was my fault. I knew it was my fault because Tink kept saying "This is all your fault" while pointing at me. Then she would say "You're responsible for Hoop. If Hoop doesn't get home, I'm blaming you!"

I know I said "I'm not his mother" at least once, but Tink wasn't having any of it. "You're responsible!"

Anyway, I lost Hoop. So I finally decided I was going to bed. When I got to the elevators to go up to my room Chelle was there and she was PISSED! "Tink is going to be so mad at you! You lost Hoop! You're responsible for him!"

So Chelle and I took off looking for Hoop and finally found him. We got him upstairs and to his room and then Chelle told me "Now go to bed!" and stomped off down the hall to her room.

That's when I woke up and had to pee. When I went back to bed I started dreaming about, um, other things that I was doing with other people.

So anyway, now that I've typed it all out and re-read it, it all seems really weird. Aaaaaaaaand just a bit creepy. Sorry about that.

All American Cities ....

Well, New York won the poll asking which world city you would just up and move to. But, the votes were spread out pretty good with London, Sydney and Paris all doing pretty well too.

I totally could see myself moving to NY. It’s a completely different kind of life, but one that I think would be lots and fun and very exciting. I would be sure to find a great pub pretty close to where I lived first thing so there would be a drinking establishment within walking distance. Then I would move on to all the other stuff.

And I’m already a Knicks fan (although they are my #2 team after the Spurs) and I also root for the Jets (although the Seahawks are my#1 NFL team and the Steelers are actually my #2 team, but that’s okay) and I’m a Rangers fan (and they really are my #1 hockey team). And I already pretty much hate all the Bahston teams, so I’m pretty sure I’d fit right in!

Anyway, congrats to the Big Apple for it’s big win!

So, I had a number of jingoistic patriotic people ask me if I was going to do a US cities poll next. Hell yes I am! But, I’m going do something that will undoubtedly piss a couple of people off cause that’s just the kind of guy I am. I’m not going to put New York on the list. HA!

Well, if New York already won the “world cities” poll, doesn’t it stand to reason that it would win the US Cities poll too? Umm... actually no it doesn’t. But, I’m thinking it would win big anyway, so I’m leaving it off the list. I’m going to assume that New York is *ALWAYS* #1!!

So, which US City would you up and move to?

Yeah, I left some pretty nice towns off the list. But, I always want to keep the list to 10 or fewer so there you go. If your dream is to move to Beaverlick, Kentucky or Boring, Maryland, then sorry about that. They didn’t quite make the list.
