Chief's Original Bootcamp: Day #1

Confessions of a first-time bootcamper/supposed 'bimbo':

If window shopping/actual shopping is your only exercise, you'll be able to truly identify with me.

It was 6.10am.
Thought I woke up on time as it only takes 10mins to reach USJ1 from my crib. Woke the snoring sis up, washed up, get dressed, tied up a pony tail, all ready to conquer my physical limits and resurrect my stamina.

One problem:
My pants were a tad too long. So I went around the house searching for safety pins. But I could not find a single, miserable, tiny pin in sight. Unbelievable. It was already 6.35am. Bootcamp starts at 6.45am sharp. I am so super late.

Gulped a glass of hot drink and drifted to the battleground.

By the time we reached, everyone and I mean, EVERY SINGLE ONE were already doing their warm ups and everything. Sis and I panicked and ran around aimlessly looking for a place to report ourselves. Apparently we looked like lost chicken but ANYWAY.

We were required to run 5 laps (5 or 6? or 10? lost count! the only thing that I thought abt was to stay alive), come back to our initial starting point, do push ups, sit ups, etc. By the time I was done with the torture, 5 things were running in my mind:

#1: Where did my dancer's stamina go???!!!!

#2: I feel nauseous.

#3: I wanna go home.

#4: What did I get myself into?!

#5: Wait, I really really need to puke.

But I didn't cos I was shy and my puke was also shy like me so it went back in.
Plus, I didn't know where to puke. The open field? The dustbin? The bench?

Then, God sent his rain.
I was secretly feeling happy.
Thought we could go home but NO, another 8 laps to go. In the rain. In the cold, cold rain.

In my heart I was singing,

'I know that You are for me,
I know that You will never forsake me in my weakness.'

God. Whyyy.

But anyway, drama aside, managed to finish all 8 laps with Andrea Kee, who also felt as nauseous as me.

As time went by, it all became easier.

Lookin' forward to the next Bootcamp! ;)
No, I mean it.

bootcamp
Here's our victory rawwwwwwr!
Ok, just me and Gladys :(

Gotta go get ready for a shoot now.
Long day ahead, but I feel refreshed :)

Hooyah!

Korean dramas: Not for the busy

Korean dramas.
Oh, how they are known for being so overly dramatic, sad and emo.

I was feeling all happy and concentrating playing my Zuma Blitz in the cool morning breeze when suddenly the sad theme song of Stairway to Heaven played on TV, I could immediately feel my heart sink, and my mind was immediately distracted.

My whole system just slowed down all of a sudden. My fingers moved slower, and I found it tougher to concentrate on my game.

Mum and sisters have been following Stairway to Heaven on TV every single morning, and I'd be in the living room catching glimpses of it whenever I rest from playing Zuma :D

I have always silently believed that busy people shouldn't watch Korean Dramas. Simply because:

No. 1) Korean dramas take forever to unravel their stories.

An episode a day is never enough. There will be something towards the end of the episode that keeps you wanting for more. Then you'll end up watching a few more episodes when you're supposed to be completing the important & urgent tasks awaiting you, or sleep to wake up early the next day. It ruins your to-do-list and delays all your plans!

No. 2) Korean dramas have a way to mess with your heart & emotions

You feel all happy and ready to do whatever you need to do for the day, e.g.: doing assignments. You have everything planned out in your head, what topic to choose, what to write and how to structure your essay. You want to just relax your mind a little after a long day in Uni, and watch just ONE episode of your favourite Korean Drama before going all out to complete your work. Gung ho!

But the moment you finish the episode, your body feels all weakly, and you find yourself lazing on the couch, eyes watering, pondering about why life is so sad sometimes, and wonder if it will ever happen to you. Then, you feel all demotivated to do anything. And you just want to sleep.

No.3) Korean dramas makes you feel sad & paranoid about life

Prolly one of the requirements to be a qualified Korean drama actor is the ability to cry pitifully. The actors and actresses can cry like nobody's business man! Seriously, if you want break away from your happy & perfect life, and just want to get in touch with your emotions or explore the darker side of life, watch Korean dramas. There will be someone crying in each episode, especially towards the end. And they have the ability to somehow make you cry. Somehow or rather. It's like a spell.

And you'll start to doubt if life is as happy as it seems. You'll start to be paranoid about life, wondering when that plague is gonna hit you. Maybe there's something wrong with your life being so happy all the time, and maybe, that sad, tragic event will happen soon, and you'll start to be on the look-out for it.

Maybe...I'm adopted?
Maybe...I have cancer?
Maybe...I have a tumour?
Maybe...my evil sister IS my evil stepsister?
Maybe...my increasing eyesight power indicates that I might turn blind one day?
Maybe...my boyfriend is my biological brother. (!!)
Maybe...my biological brother who loves me isn't my biological brother after all. If that's the case, maybe we have a shot of being together!

Okay I may have sounded a little dramatic myself, but I'm only speaking from experience and observation. Korean dramas are nice to watch if you have nothing important to rush for or think about. Perfect for students on holidays and stay-home mums (like my mum).

Some of the emo Korean dramas I used to adore when I was 12.

Winter Sonata

The lead actress is beautiful. Which makes all the girls wonder why she can be so beautiful even when she's eating and crying. Very beautiful sceneries but I found it to be a little boring. And the lead guys looks gay.

Autumn in My Heart

I can cry watching every episode of it. This has got to be my all-time favourite. Though I really won't watch it again cos it makes me feel sad about life.

And my favourite Korean actor, Won Bin (on far left) is perfect. One of the reasons I loved Autumn in my Heart. Or maybe he IS the reason? :P

And here are some of the less dramatic and sad Korean dramas. These are the ones that won't make you feel miserable, but instead entertain you. But they still make you addicted and day-dream about the story so it's still not good to watch if you're a busy person!

Full House

I can't really remember the story, but I know I really enjoyed this one cos it's not the typical sad and dramatic series. Plus, it's Rain! He's cute :) And the girl's my favourite Korean actress...so super pretty!

She can look pure & angelic.

Cute & playful.

As well as hot and sexy. So chunted!

My Love Patzzi

I also cannot really remember the story for this one, but I know it was funny & really cute. Love the lead actress...she's cute as a furball!

I may have sounded like a total anti-Korean drama, but I really am not. I used to love Korean dramas so super much that I'd feel miserable and feel like life's lost its meaning if I missed one episode of it (back then we had to catch em only on TV).

But now that it's been a whole 10 years or so since I crazed about em', things are different now. It starts to irritate me with the fact that Korean dramas are draggy & slow (wasting time), and so unrealistically tragic.

Korean drama lovers, please don't hate me! Hahahaha :P
But but but, you gotta agree with me somehow? right? right?? RIGHT?!

Okie time for more ZUMA!

pretty ugly

what a weekend!
as i'm typing this post, i'm recalling real hard on what actually took place.

hehe i really have bad memory.
watched Valentine's Day with baby on Friday after work. a surprised which i spoiled myself :(

the drama team went for Easter costume measurement on Saturday morning, went for special service with Alarice (man, she's good!), and movie with boon's family :)

and on Sunday, slept in for a bit (awesomness), celebrated Felicia's birthday at Fullhouse, got her a BB, laughed like hyena and camho-ed with my fav peeps on earth (you know who you crazy folks are), acting training by KLPAC instructors (Adel & Qahar), and The Book of Eli with the crazy bunch plus my BFF/homie/mamajo :)

The Book of Eli is...
stimulating. that's the only word i can think of :)

besides the blood-splashing, heads flying, and a huge crow that died (!!! i have bird phobia), i really enjoyed the movie :)

heard so many good reviews about it, and yes the movie did meet my expectations. denzel washington is effortlessly an awesome actor. or maybe it just seemed like it.

lesson learned from Qahar: a good actor makes acting seem effortless, with lots of effort.
what a weekend..from a movie noob who watches a movie once in 3 months, to watching 3 movies in just a week. *hearts*

Valentine's Day- a romance movie,
72 Tenants- Senseless Lameass TVB comedy
The Book of Eli- what genre is it??

i'm ready to face to week ahead! :D

i know all my pictures don't really match the contents. will surely fail IPD if this were an assignment! haha shows i was not sleeping in class ;)

love the silly pics with baby.
i have a bf whom i can look absolutely, downright ugly with, and he has totally no issues with it. plus, i'm not pretty all the time. just ordinary like everybody else :)

March has been great so far!
lovin' it!

*group hug*

How I Met Your Mother

good day, people! :)
will be a very good day indeed!

woke up in a very very bad, hot and humid weather + a village of uninvited mozzies flying around my crib (according to my maid, it was bcos of the morning rain?) kinda levelled down my excitement to start the day happily.

what happens when faced with a bad start to my day?

besides calling and texting my baby *wink wink*,
switching on Bobby Boon and playing How I Met Your Mother is the next best thing, babeh!

sorry, i don't know why but i'm on a very lame mode now.
hopefully it'll soon be over cos i still have work in the evening!

let me show you a sweat-worthy pic.

notice the awkwardness??

man, i looked HUGE and disconnected!
i'm the one on the far right, btw. why did i stand there? :/

doncha mess with the ladyboss!

okay, enough.
actually my post today is dedicated to How I Met Your Mother.
am so smitten by the series that i just HAVE to blog about it.

to spread awareness.
to spread the love and laughter.
no, to spread near-death laughter and high.

these 5 casts have such vast diferences in their characters.
and they just do their parts so well!

i can't find a lame enough picture of the cast because they just all look so formal and serious. (why is it always like that? Friends also the same) which is totally NOT the case in the series. the producers of the series is damn sampat i swear!

some may compare it to Friends, which i did when Boon first started introducing me the series. Friends is undoubtedly the ultimate comedy ever (man, Phoebe!), but How I Met Your Mother is a different sense of humour, i feel.

it's lamer somehow.
and more ridiculous in a diff way. i just don't know how to explain.

maybe you just gotta watch it to know.
maybe it's just me. and Boon. and my sisters. hehehe.

watched with my sisters (yes, also with the ultimate sampat queen, Gladys), and we laughed until we almost choked to death. kept replaying certain scenes and find ourselves gasping for breath.

paricularly in Season5 Episode4 where Marshall made photo montages.
OMG we all almost died!!!

okay, that's enough.

i've shown my love and dedication towards How I Met Your Mother,
now time for more How I Met Your Mother lovin :D

have a greeaaat weekend!!
love, careen.

Evangeline: Baby's Day In

Hi! my name's Evangeline. my sisters call me Evan. as well as korkor Boon Hock. whom i call KorHor or ErGer (second brother). it just came naturally.

i'm the youngest member of the family and still too young to go to school, so i keep myself occupied at home. i'm the little queen bee ladyboss dontcha mess with me.
it's always the same routine.
everyday i wake up, kakak will bring me to the same couch, to watch the same TV.

it used to be Disney Channel, but my parents cut that off because of my schooling sisters. so now im forced to only watch Astro XTY. which is in Mandrin. i don't really understand Mandrin yet, that's why nowadays i'd prefer DVDs.

the recent Hot DVDs of the Crib are
Operation: Save The World and Alvin & the Chipmunks 2.
i watch them everyday. many many times in a day.

i have very very sharp and sensitive ears. whenever i sense that someone might be going out of the house, i'll run like there's no tomorrow out the door. most of the time my kakak and family members can't even catch me.

i know precisely where my shoes are.

a tip from me: when in a rush, use two hands for better support.

on a serious mission. it's now or never.

all set to go!
ops...my toes just don't cooperate sometimes. it gets frustrating!
but i don't care cos i'm in such a mad rush!

finally i got to follow along when mummy walks Charity to school :D

afternoon came. when the sun is not too hot.
i always wait til this time of the day. i can sense it when it arrives.

the usual routine.
door opens, slip on shoes, toes stick out.

toes still sticking out. (look closely)
charity just learned how to cycle. i want too, but i'm just too short. so i resort to playing with the umbrella..which i always call, "Ella". i'm a fan of Rihanna ;)

oh before i forget, after that pic was taken, charity's bike rolled over my toes. yes, those which stuck out. should have worn my shoes properly first.
another tip from me: sit on umbrella when tired to avoid staining pants.

as usual, i'll take a look at my wonderfully colored toe nails whenever i can.
...but wait! i noticed something!

hahahahah...toes fixed :D

time to sun tan.

saw mum with camera.
POSE!

after the daily outdoor activity, time to get back to my Alvin & the Chipmunks 2.

Single ladies by the Chipettes. i love that song :D

time to nap!

Sunsilk Blog to Paris Finale

the job which pays super well for a less than 1 min drama gig is finally coming to an end :(

acted with puiks for Sunsilk's Blog to Paris promo drama for 3 times now, and it's been an unforgettable experience.

cos firstly, it is a paid drama performance. it really puts extra stress on us both. secondly, it is a different crowd altogether. unlike the supportive CHC crowd, some crowds could be really unresponsive and stress us out by giving us the blur face. hehehe.

anyways, the finale was held at Rootz, Lot 10.

not being an avid clubber + a blur queen + occasional blonde moments, i had much trouble figuring out what this Rootz place is all about. after touring Lot 10 for a bit, we finally found it!

located at the rooftop. like, totally cool.
can have garden wedding here.

there were 3 of these located at the garden. still had trouble figuring out what the place is all about until i walked into it, and immediately could tell/smell that it was actually a club :/

super interesting and bizzarre interior!
but before that, pictures of me and puiks :)

and pink was the theme :)

okay back to the interior.
first spot- washroom.

yes, washroom.
whowouldvethought??!

muscular, semi-naked celebrities and male models were paraded all over the washroom. all different pictures can u believe it?! i spotted rain and jude law too. hahah!

and as for the gent's, the toilet was plastered with pictures of semi-naked women, bikini-clad babes, and all the other playboy stuff.

how did i know?
haha cos the blur puiks and i actually went into the gent's and mistaken it as the female washroom due to all the female pics..until we saw those cubicles. yes, how could we be so innocent.
that's puiks!

the ceiling.
it has the Gossip Girl masquerade party feeling.

dance rehearsal by urban groove.

the bar. and that's Liang, emcee for the event.

and this is the walkway/entrance to the club. super cool or super duper cool! mirrors everywhere me loveeee :D

i'm inspired.
my future bedroom shall be like this :D
kidding. suddenly my baby get heart-attack ;)

" mirrors are girls bestest friend. followed by diamonds." -careen.

had such a great 3 experiences working for Sunsilk thus far.
thanks to Puiks for intro-ing the job, and Jason for offering the job :)

gotta run!
*group hugs*

love, careen.
