How to Make a Pretzel
![]() |
| Pirouette |
A couple weeks ago I was initiated into the world of wrestling. I had never been to a match. (Well, there was that one time in 7th grade when I went with a friend to see that one boy I really liked a whole, whole lot.) Sometimes I get to go with my other photo pals to high school sporting events & take pictures for the newspaper. (I even have a handy dandy media pass with my dorky picture on it. Sweet, huh?) Mostly I photograph for myself. Getting some practice in & all. It's good fun! As a result of previous photo sporting escapades, I learned to appreciate & enjoy the game of football. And now, wrestling is fighting its way into my heart.
These boys of wrestling MUST love what they do. Not only because they have to wear those awesomely awkward onesies, but they get chased & choked & twisted & bent for several minutes at a time. And they KEEP coming back for more!
Of course, the creative me LOVES the choreography of it all. The improvisation: there is no script. Only funny outfits & a tussle, centerstage.
And my artsy brain oohs & aahs at the angles, the lines, the silhouette, the arrangement. I could literally stare for hours at the photos of faces in agony, the way the limbs bend backward in ways they weren't meant to. It's fascinating.
And, so, I'll share...

Love and Hate Sports ...
Okay, so I’ve mentioned before that I’m a pretty big sports fan. But, some people might wonder what sports I love and what sports I don’t give a crap about. So I thought I’d list them here for you.
Sports I don’t give a rip about…
- Any pre-season exhibition pro sporting events.
- Any women’s team sporting events except curling.
- MMA
- UFC
- Regular season NHL games until the final 2 weeks.
- The Pro Bowl
- NHL All Star Game
- Any of the events surrounding the NBA All Star Game, except the game itself. Which I love.
- Cycling
- Any Olympic sport other than during the Olympics except curling.
- Any auto race except for the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500.
- Golf except for The Masters, U.S. Open & British Open
- Men's and Women's tennis unless Venus Williams, Serena Williams or Maria Sharapova are playing.
- College basketball regular season.
- College baseball except the College World Series.
- Soccer. Other than the English Premiere League and The World Cup.
- All the "not really sports" like lacross, bowling, volleyball and stuff like that.
- Any discussions about steroids, player’s salaries being too high or athletes being “out of control.” And the sports columnists and pundits who are always morally outraged by these stories that obviously nobody gives a shit about.
What I do love...
- College Football
- The NFL
- The NBA and the NBA All-Star Game.
- The Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament
- The NHL playoffs
- Major League Baseball, but not like I used to.
- Sports groupies.
- Cheerleading (it’s a sport)

- Mascots like the Philly Phanatic

He was one of my all-time favorites who was also in four of my all-time favorite moves, “Giant,” “Easy Rider,” “Hoosiers” and “Apocalypse Now.”

Warriors Game
Went to a Warriors game against the Portland Trail Blazers. It was awesome. Some annoying guys came to sit in front of us after finding out some guys didn't use their season tickets for the night. They were quite annoying. I love how fans get together and watch sports, but there are just those annoying fans that ruin it for everyone. Everyone that came to just watch the game and really enjoy the sport. Not those trash talking fans that don't even know the difference between offense and defense. Very sad that even I know the difference and I don't follow the sport too often. After last night, I really like Biedrins and Morrows. Thanks love for taking me to the game with you. Looking forward to the next one you take me to. =)
