Drowsey Monkey, who dreams about ME, has created a new photo meme. It’s called Mellow Yellow Monday.
Here’s her description of how to play…
“Basically you post a photo every Monday with a little or a lot of yellow. I chose yellow because it's my favourite colour and I think the world is a better place with a splash of yellow.”
(remember, she’s Canadian so she gets to put an extra “u” in the words “favorite” and “color.”)
Anyway, if you want to play along just click RIGHT HERE to get all the details.
Interview time…
There are many differnet kinds of memes out there. Some of them suck balls and some of them can be kind of fun. I don't do too many of them unless I feel like it, or the person tagging me is new or just really wants me to do them. The meme, not "them." ;-)
But, one of the few memes that I did like was the interview meme. That's where someone asks me five questions. I had a good time with that one, not just answering questions but reading everyone else's answers to other people's quesitons. This meme has been revived and I decided to let a couple of people interview me. Avitable will be interviewing me whenever the hell he feels like it and M from Rumblings and Bumblings is interviewing me today.
1. What is your most favorite blog to read? The one you just could not do without? (don't try to weasel out of this one)
Oh this is impossible! It's like asking my which shot of tequila last night was my favorite. They were all so wonderful and tasty.
This question took some serious thought and time. I actually did think of a couple of ways of weaseling out it. I thought about naming a blog written by someone who stopped blogging. That would be clever. Or maybe one of the "pro" bloggers. Or maybe one of the trashy celebrity blogs where they post pics of hot young celebs running around in bikinis. These were all possibilities.
And there is a bit of unfairness to the question because it puts me in position of possibly hurting some people's feelings. Or having to listen to a bunch of whining from people. That's why I don't do those little blog awards. I did it once and I got a couple of emails from people bitching because I didn't give THEM the award. It was so silly.
But, I think my original analogy of "my favorite shot of tequila last" actually does work. As I sat and thought things over, it became obvious that my favorite blog is the first blog I read consistently and my first blog friend. You probably already know who I'm talking about.
Pickled Beef by Tink. Yup, I think the first blog you love will always be your favorite. And that will always be Pickled Beef and the amazing, charming, wonderful, brilliant Tink.
So there you have it. It doesn't mean that I don't love everyone else though!
2. Favorite meal of all time? (restaurant or homemade)
I'm a pretty simple guy. So my favorite meal of all time is a pretty simple, comfort food meal. It's meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Or maybe roasted carrots in place of the green beans. Maybe tack on a couple of rolls if you want and even a glass of wine.
3. Crawfish, crawdads, or crayfish?
In Shreveport, Louisiana they call them "mudbugs." I know this because that was where I was first exposed to these creepy little fellas. It was at Mudbug Days Festival there and there were people eating those things by the pound. I didn't try them, but I did have aligator on a stick. That was pretty tasty.
Anyway, here in Redneckville we have Crawdad Days. So, I call them "crawdads."
4. What is your idea of a dream vacation? (with location)
Another tough one. I think my favorite place that I've ever been to is Monterey, California. It was soooo beautiful there. If somebody handed me a bunch of money and told me to take off right now for a vacation I would go to Europe though. I've always wanted to backpack through Europe. I missed my chance back when I was college aged when most people do that type of thing. But, anyplace where I can wander around and explore and visit historical sites would be great.
5. What color are your bed sheets?
Come on over and find out ladies! I have a set that are kind of an off-white, a set that are light blue and a set that are maroon colored.
Okay, so the next part of this game is where I'm supposed to tell people to let me know if they want me to interview them.
Not. Gonna. Happen.
The only time I did that I had to come up with questions for 40 people. Way too much of a hassle. LOL
But, thanks for the great questions M. Hope I answered them for ya.
Brought to us by Tink of Pickled Beef. This week’s words are Contribute and Pine. And you may remember that last week’s words were Mature and Immature.
A maturepine tree…
A fake pine tree. And yes, that helmet on top of the tree might be a bit immature…
I guess it’s pretty immature to flip off another driver. No matter how bad they suck …
Me contributing to everyone’s Merry Christmas …
Me contributing to Annie and Burl Live. And that might have been a bit immature too.
My very good friend Tink has created a little Christmas meme and since it was Tink, I decided to play along. Of course this means that Tink is now the Queen of Memes, so be sure to tag her with all of your memes people! ;-)
1. What was the best present you've ever received? When I was in 3rd grade (I think) I got a really sweet bicycle. I think it was my first real cool bicycle too. Freedom baby! Of course there have been others through the years, but that was probably my first best present ever.
2. What was the worst? I don't think I've ever gotten a really shitty Christmas present or one that I just hated. I have, from time to time gotten some PJs that everyone knew I wouldn't wear, but that's okay. haha
3. What is something you really want this year for yourself? I really would love a new laptop, but that's not exactly reasonable. Otherwise I don't really want anything.
4. What is something you really want this year for someone else? Nothing that is affordable. haha
5. What's your favorite Christmas memory? Probably back when we were kids and we would have Christmas over at dad's house. Then over at Nana Creta's and then the three of us, my sister, mother and I, would have Christmas at home on Christmas Day. And on Christmas Eve mom would always read "The Littlest Angel" and "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" to us and then we would sing Christmas Carols.
And since I'm on a meme roll here, I thought I would do this one too. Just for the hell of it.

Brought to us by the very damn soon to be married Tink of Pickled Beef. This weeks words are Feet and Hands. And last weeks words were Now and Then.
As you might recall I didn't do last week's words cause I couldn't come up with anything. Well, I didn't do much better this week, but at least I have something this time.
Then (about 2 months ago)...
Now...
Anyone know how to read the lines on the palm of my hand?
Feet...
I wonder if this little guy has any hands or feet?
Flood stage on Crooked Creek is 16 feet...
So uh yeah, that's all I've got. Don't forget Tink is going to be away next week for some crazy ass reason, and she's tossed me the keys to the WWC car and asked me to drive it around. So I'll be hosting WWC next week. I hope I don't ding it up too badly.
Oh and if you haven't already done so, get out there and vote!!!
Brought to us by the adorable Tink of Pickled Beef. This weeks words are Then and Now.
Here’s what I got. Enjoy …
Uh … yeah. I kind of didn’t get anything this week.
See .. wha .. wha happened was .. oh hell, those words were hard! I looked around and tried to get some ideas, but I just couldn’t come up with anything. But, I promise that I will at least try and make it up next week. No promises though. I’m not that creative, ya know.

So, what I thought I would do today is do what Death Chic did last week. Ya’ll know Death Chic, right? Cause you totally should. Anyway, she decided to sit down and write out her F-List. As in F-whatever is annoying you. So here we go …
F –
Kids roaming around town during the day when they should be in school. Kids in general. Screaming babies. Touchy, whiny people. All politicians. Political ads. Stupid mailers from politicians. Undecided voters. Flat tires…
Noisy neighbors. Anonymous internet trolls. Left and Right wing extremists. Sleep. Zits. Gray hair. ESPN The Amish Fox Sports Radio. Private blogs. Bloggers who just up and quit blogging. Hemorrhoids Back pain. The NFL Junk mail. Spam email. Reality TV. Commercials. The NBA Halloween. The holidays. Crappy service in restaurants. Crappy drivers. NASCAR Laundry. Liars. Cheaters. Sports columnists. Fox Sports Radio (a little less politics and more sports please) SUVs
F – these words: Gaffe Battleground States Swing States Polling Endgame Endorse Game-changer Straight Talk Maverick My Friends Redistribution Spread the Wealth Tax Burden Elitism Real Americans Change Moderates Political Center Landslide Bailout Wall Street Main Street Reform Tested Community Organizer Race Card Gender Card Identity Politics Values Voters
*Okay so yeah, some of these were on my original F-list that I did in comments on Death Chic’s blog last week. But, since I put them here again, you know I really mean it!
Just like Napoleon returning from exile in Elba in 1815.
er
Much like General Macarthur’s dramatic “return” to the Phillipines in 1944.
Umm …
Just like Bobby Ewing improbably stepping out of the show upon his dramatic return to “Dallas,” I have returned to the bloggin world.
Last week was damn busy. Lots and lots of driving around and all that fun stuff. But, things are getting back to normal today. Kell, Al and Cosette are back in Omaha, Grandma has turned 90 and I’m trying to recover and get back into the swing of things.
