WEDNESDAY WHEELS; LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR

The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 ($TBA) is the latest from Sant'Agata Bolognese, and packs a new 6.5L V12 engine — good for 691 hp, a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds, and an estimated top speed of 217 MPH — Launch Control for smooth take-offs, a seven-speed ISR Graziano transmission, a Formula 1-inspired suspension, a new all-wheel-drive system, oversized ceramic brakes, and a handy hydraulic lift to keep the beauty's body panels from being busted on on steep driveways or irritating speed bumps.

LAMBORGHINI HARD DRIVE

Cool harddrive from Asus. Imbued with lines inspired by the company's sportscars, this external hard drive looks the part, and with available USB 3.0 connectivity, stands to live up to the promise of performance. Unfortunately the price tag is suitably Lambo-like as well: the starting price of $120 for a 500GB drive with the slower USB 2.0 connection makes it almost twice as expensive as an ordinary hard drive

NEW LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO

Even though the Murcielago ended production earlier this month and its successor won't begin production for a while, Lamborghini has not been spending its time idly, and will prove that by introducing the Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante. Billed as "less weight, more fascination," the Spyder Performante is meant to take the 'regular' Gallardo Spyder to new highs of performance with new lows of weight.

Essentially a superleggera version of the Gallardo Spyder, a total of 143 pounds have been shed from the standard convertible through the use of carbon fiber and carbon composite parts both outside and in. The convertible cover is made from carbon fiber, as is the rear spoiler, diffuser and some underbody components. Inside, the transmission tunnel cover, door panels and seat shells are CF units.
The front end has also been tweaked for looks and aerodynamic purposes, with improved cooling and more downforce on the front axle being two of the results, and better rear aero comes courtesy of a redesigned diffuser. The blast-off time from 0-to-62 mph has been dropped to 3.9 seconds, and terminal velocity comes in at 201 mph.
Always a hot car
