p.s. Hey. It's Friday, and so it is. ** Allesfliesst, Hey. Oh, yeah, I certainly understand why you found that geheimagentur performance interesting. I'm hugely interested after hearing you describe it. I wish new French theater/ performance wasn't so staid for the most part. If you get the chance, I'd highly recommend seeing the work of Yves Noel Genod, probably my favorite French theater artist, and one of the very rare younger French directors who works with the idea of the audience and its variables as an active component of his work. Frequently thrilling stuff. The employment of HIV+ blood in some of Athey's work is definitely one of the most interesting things about it for me. It's the particular rituals in which he frames that challenge that don't interest me so much. Pathos is a good term. And there's too much mimicry and symbology and not enough translation or reinvention for me. But I find his work admirable and fraternal, I guess, at the very least. I will wait very patiently for the translation, don't worry. I'm extremely interested, and everything you're saying is quite fascinating to me. Thanks, man. ** OscarDavid, Hey. I'm going to write to you in just a minute. There might need to be a slight change in plans. ** Dogboy, Sorry about your heat, but I'll admit I'm a little relieved vis a vis the post since the temperature over here has dropped ten plus degrees since I made it, and I was afraid it had missed its boat. ** Colin, Hey. No, your wetness is an honor, sir. Edwin Morgan died? I didn't know. Oh, that's terrible; that's sad news. Ugh. Oh, Colin, since I'm being such a severe slowpoke with email right now, it's probably a good idea for me to go ahead and say while I've got you that your wonderful guest-post will be appearing on the blog on Saturday, the 28th. Next Saturday, in other words. I've been meaning to tell you that for weeks. Thank you so much, man. ** David Ehrenstein, Ha ha, yes, in fact I tried my darndest to find an atypical still from that scene to use in the post and failed, so, well, thank you so much for completing my mission. ** Statictick, Porch Rat post, awesome, gimme gimme. And, ahem, thank you. Well, I hope your weekend is absolutely jam-packed with fucking. Of course, I wish that for everyone here, but for you in particular since you would seem to give my wish its best chance of coming true. ** Pilgarlic, Yeah, it was hot that day. If memory serves, I think I started out googling water + park, and, emboldened by the results, very quickly ended up googling water + fountain instead, and the rest is if not history then a Day. My dad is very proud that he invested a bunch of money in Whammo when it first started, made a small fortune, and then de-invested when he sensed the super ball would be its last hurrah, and so it was. ** Tomkendall, Hey, Tom! Of course it's excellent to see you! I've heard a little of Immortal Technique, I can't remember where. Very interesting stuff, yeah. You heard Raekwon is going officially remix Justin Bieber, right? I mean, hmm. GnR are playing here too, but I can't get with seeing them without the actual band. Understandable you do though, and I'd be quite interested to hear what the show is like. 2/3, great! That's getting there. Blocks are murder. I keep getting little ones. They're just evil. But they pass, especially if you manage to forget you're blocked. 'Cos the stress about the block is the block, I think. You'd better celebrate the finished novel in Paris. Maybe we'll get lucky and we can celebrate our novels' ends together. ** Bill, Maybe if you'd joined up with them, they wouldn't have wound up pretty much just directing operas. Although the operas do look kind of interesting. ** _Black_Acrylic, Hey, Ben. Have they started kicking in yet? Sure hope so. Let us know how you're doing today, okay? And lots of love from me and here to you. ** Tristam's Mum, No, it's not just you. I'm a lady killer from way back. Need I add an emoticon? I'm also an apocalypse killer from way back, so don't you worry (too much). ** Little foal, Hey, Darren, my pal. The park looks really sweet. One of those water fountains yesterday is in Belfast. I can't remember which one. But I think it was a good one since I at least remembered that it's in Belfast. Did any of them look familiar? Cool about meeting up with that guy. The nervousness is totally understandable, but since you've long since cleared the hurdle of his radar, seems like you only need to worry if he'll clear yours. And since you don't seem worried about that, I predict fireworks of some sort. Oh, yeah, not finishing university is the opposite of the end of the world, man. Lots of love to you too, D. ** Nick Hudson, Hey, Nick. Uh, I'd be surprised if Pinget came out of Woolf at all. I've never seen him reference her or anything. I think French lit has been all over the microscopic in one way or another for quite a while. I know the name Nadja (Aidan Baker). I ... don't think I've heard the work though. Easily remedied. Cool you're playing with him. I'll check my email asap. I'm way behind, ugh. ** Killer Luka, Oh, that's a shame. I mean that you/Tommi only do webcam work. I can't get the webcam sex thing. My attention span is too revved up or something. Wait, that wasn't actually a photo of Justin Bieber? Incredible! ** Changeling, Hey, man! Glad you made it back okay. Bad timing on the water fountains front. I was afraid of that. Oh, so maybe you can answer a question that was burning up the wires between certain Mark E. Smith fans I know a year or so ago. Comb over or not? That was the question, believe it or not. Yeah, you have to be careful with blackberries. In the organic clothing industry, which I tragically know more than a little about, they use blackberry juice instead of dye sometimes. But skin is stronger than juice, so I'm sure you'll look exactly like whatever normally you like again very soon. Song for your playlist? Gosh, the pressure, not from you but rather from/ on me. I'm going to do that first thought = best thought thing. Sebadoh's 'Perverted World'. ** Stan_cz, Wow. Hm. Okay, well, since you seem to have explained yourself in a way that you find completely satisfying, and since I feel like I just banged my head against a wall, and since the wall remains in place, and since the wall-plus-head combination is a proven no-go as far as the head is concerned, let's just leave it there and move on or sideways or something, yes? ** JW Veldhoen, Well, hello. ** Eli Jurgen, Hello, Eli, and welcome to here, and thanks a lot for being here. It's a pleasure. I don't know what your dream means, but I used to have a recurring dream when I was a little kid that that there was a skyscraper in my town named Mike. Once a year, the people of the town had to free Mike from his/its foundations for a day and let him/it go around smashing buildings and crushing anyone he/it wanted to death for twenty-four hours, including me, of course. You have any insight into that one? I've had a quick look at your blog and your work, and it's all very interesting. That 'Somebody to Love' video is fascinating and moving. So, kudos. Please do stay around here if you feel like it, and it's very nice to meet you. ** Steevee, Hey. I've read about Lil B. I think I heard a snippet or two by him as well. Yeah, he does seems very intriguing, and I've been meaning to follow up on the interesting intro I had. Will do. Thanks, Steve, and enjoy all that Connecticut has to offer. ** Im not an asbo im your next Prime minister, Yep, that was the Diana one. Or, well, it was in there somewhere, and I imagine you spotted it. Good eye. We are so on the same page about summer and fall. It's almost eerie. So, when your life starts, what happens? ** Inthemostpeculiarway, Oh, thank you, man. About the post. That so pleases me. I've had those giant crepes ... uh, three times. The crepe stand is a bit of a trek, and usually when I walk by it, I'm on my way to Hard Rock Cafe in search of nachos and iced tea. Somebody does need to do a 'Rim me, Dennis Cooper' video, just so long as I get to vet the person who makes it. I think I've been inside Notre Dame maybe three times. I don't know, it just looks like a big church inside to me. I don't get what the big deal is. The outside's good, though. Re: my declining the pizza, I was just trying to save a few euros, I guess. I'm sorry your friend got her anxiety back. That's tough. At least she didn't hug you. Anxiety is very contagious, as I'm sure you know. I've seen people slow dance to techno, but they were usually dying from Ecstacy-related dehydration at the time, so I don't think that counts. Nice bath dream. You deserved it. But then you felt haunted all day afterwards, and that's really unfair. My day: Met up with my pal Joel. We decided to go to the Jardin des Plantes, which is this pretty place that's a combination zoo, botanical gardens, and natural history museum. I hadn't been there since Yury and I first got here five years ago and were really bored one day. Oscar was interested in going too, so we three took the metro over there. Or close to there, technically. We spent a goodly number of hours looking at animals, flowers, and the displays inside the museum. Inside, that museum building is one of Paris' most beautiful -- giant and old and kept very dark for some reason, which makes it a calming place. Even the hundreds of little French kids there were acting strangely mellow. Then we came back here. I guess it was around 6 pm by then. I did some stuff, ate, and then Kiddiepunk, Joel, and I gathered in Kp's room to watch the Scott Walker documentary '30th Century Man', which I'd strangely never seen before, and it was, of course, fascinating since SW is a total visionary genius nonpareil, and he actually appears/talks in it a lot, which was shocking since he's such a reclusive mystery guy. So, that was nice. And then it was basically bedtime, so I came back here, tied up the day's loose ends, visited with Yury, whom I hadn't seen since he'd left for work in the morning, and crashed. Your turn, naturally. ** Plexus, Hi, Gabe! Maybe those flute playing skills will come in handy one day. Maybe the flute will play a big part in the next big musical trend. You never know. I used to play guitar, recorder, and I tried playing clarinet for some weird reason, but I couldn't figure it out. I can remember the taste of the clarinet's reed, though. I must have liked it. So deodorant is the power behind your writerly throne, eh? I can't believe I didn't guess that on my own, ha ha. Oh, I studied writing in college. Well, actually, I just took a few poetry workshops, so that's not really studying, I guess. But the teacher of one of my poetry workshops who was a poet and very romantic about writing told me that if I really wanted to be Rimbaud -- and I did at that time -- I should quit school and just live and write. I guess he wasn't a very good university professor to say that, but I believed him, and the rest is my strange history. I wrote as a little kid, so I guess I always wrote, but I decided to be a writer when I was 15. Basically, I think that was because I started reading books around then that blew my mind and that also showed me how you could be as fucked up and full of weird fantasies and ideas as I was and write about them and people would read your weird books and take you seriously. That was a big revelation, of course. When and how did you start writing? When and how did you decide it was your gift or destiny or whatever? If you have to take community college classes, can you take whatever classes you want? If so, what classes would you take? Well, that giant submerged face is in Paris. Or it was. I think they fished it out of there eventually. Niagara Falls, yeah, duh. I don't know how that one got past me. Yeah, you're pretty close to NF. The only time I ever saw it was when I was in Buffalo that one time. Oh, if you head off to the lakes before I see you next, have a fun weekend. Sounds like you definitely will. ** L@rstonovich, Hey. Actually, I put two or three up there just to see if anyone was paying attention. Like those logs. Which are 'water fountains', believe it or not. But they evaded whatever attention the post got. I'm proud you noticed the chocolate one. You rule. New Skullhum and on FB no less! You're a pip, a saint, etc., etc. ** Brendan, You are the man! That is exactly why I chose the number 96. No joke. You are the motherfucking man, Brendan! ** You-x, Hey, J! I was just reading how hot it is where you are. I don't miss California's 5 month-long summers. Oh, Joel does have a very high score. He's been playing Mario Kart almost every day for, like, five years. He has several Wii-names or whatever they're called. I think the main one has tranny in the title. Trannywhore? No, that's not exactly it. I'll find out. If he scores a Mario Kart over here and plays, I'll tell him to watch for you guys. What are your Wii-names or whatever. Thanks about 'SiH', man. ** Misanthrope, No, I think you're right about Little Show and FB. I totally agree. Even just seeing his FB stuff from afar, there's a blossoming going on or something. Just continue to improve physically with every passing day. That's all I ask, man. ** Uh, right. Today I thought I'd show you a potpourri of what happened over here this summer for really no good reason at all. I'll go do something else now. See you tomorrow.
