p.s. Hey. The artist and d.l. Toniok is your master of ceremonies today, and he draws your attention to the band Parálisis Permanente. They're completely new to me at least, and, if you're like me in that regard, once you've clicked those imbedded vids, I'm pretty sure you'll share my gratitude for the great find. Thanks, Tonio, and thank you all in advance as always for your attentiveness to the post and your related comments. A little warning: My laptop started fucking up yesterday. Specifically, the 'mouse' has started freezing occasionally for no apparent reason, forcing me to shut down the computer a lot. If the problem gets worse, it might cause an interruption in the blog's service or at least in the p.s. since there's no way I can do the p.s. on a French keyboard. Fingers crossed. We're just busy and sweating profusely here. The Festival officially begins tomorrow, and our premiere is on Thursday, so it's serious crunch time. All is well though, I think. ** Killer Luka, Hey. I'll check that band out when I get an iced coffee break, cool. In this heat, being a milkshake vendor strikes me as one of the more noble professions, so thanks to your dream weaver. ** Postitbreakup, Lqtm ... I should know what stands for, shouldn't I? Knowing you, I'm going to take it blind as a kind gesture. Thank you. ** Syreearmwellion, Hey. Oh, novellas are better than movies anyway. Well, your novellas, I'm sure. First things first, right? Thanks about the blog. It and I are learning stuff from you like crazy too, man. Tit for tat. ** 啟均, You spoiled us with that last spam-ette. This one can't help but be a let-down. ** Scunnard, All the wacky stuff about America feels so much cleaner over here. Doing the 4th without the 4th, for instance. I go to the Paris Hard Rock Cafe to treat myself. How weird is that? ** Changeling, Hey. I know that carrousel. Lavender tea I don't know yet. If it's iced, I will. And it won't be iced. France + iced = doesn't exist. This cafe down the street from the theater serves this insane ginger drink that's in the running for best thing ever. Oh, don't worry about the post. Whenever is good for you. I'm super late on my comments on your writing anyway. I think I'm going to have to get back to Paris before anything I want to happen happens. Stalking, interesting. Oh, nostalgia, yeah, I know. It's not nostalgia's problem even when there is a problem, it's the nostalgist's. Intricate webs is totally the way to go. It's the people who live in their youth as though they had died at its conclusion, as though youth has an ending in the first place, that irk me, I guess. Thanks for hailing an ice age to southern France. I'll watch for it. Oh, shit, about fifteen cops just walked into the theater. (I'm writing this in the theater). Uh-oh. (Our set has received 'fire trap' complaints.) I'll try to ignore them. ** David Ehrenstein, The Ackerman film is quite interesting. No documentary film about dance has ever really been adequate, at least that I've seen, but that one is wise and sharp, as you'd imagine. Thanks for the added info on Hitchens. I mostly know him from his books' reviews, his Vanity Fair stuff, and talking head appearances here and there. In France, he's nobody, obviously. ** Pilgarlic, Hey. Nice 3rd, 4th tale. Nicely written too, I might add. I almost went to Tybee Island once. I can't remember why I didn't. And you totally nailed me with that homemade egg salad sandwich. My taste buds have been having this hot and heavy affair with the store bought, pre-made type for about a year now, so you can imagine the boners you just gave them. ** Sypha, Oh, thanks a lot, James. That's very kind, man. ** Stan_cz, Well, my novel's the victim in all this current busyness, which sucks, but I'll have it more to myself starting on the 16th. Yeah, Mary's 'SU' is a terrific book. She's a pal of mine. A cooler person there can not be. Hm, yeah, translator might be a great job for you if you can get a regular gig doing that. Possible? You speak English better than I do. Seriously. ** Colin, Hey, Colin. Glad you liked the post, man, thanks. You guessed that movie title before I could help you out. I'm still 'Trash Humpers'-deprived, which is hard to accept, let me tell you. Oh, awesome! I only just peeked at your 'Coma' review so far, but it looks fantastic. Reading it will be the first thing I do once I launch this. Everyone, the fine writer and d.l. Colin aka Colin Herd has reviewed Pierre Guyotat's 'Coma' -- easily one of the greatest books of this year, if you ask me -- over at 3AM, and your attendance is very highly recommended. Go here. Congrats to Guyotat and to you! ** Wolf, First, oh shit, about your torn off nail. That has to be just about the most obnoxious pain out there. I think fingernails have survived evolution's edit as a gift to drag queens, which is certainly a noble cause, but at such a cost to you, my wolf! I'm sorry. No, I don't get freebies to the shows here. I had to pick some I wanted to see a few weeks ago, and I basically asked Gisele to pick them for me, and I got slightly discount tickets. It's a different kind of heat here. LA has crisp desert heat. This is clingy wet heat. The wet part is the monster. ** Waiting for John, Hello. Yeah, I'm ass man myself, so I hear about the paralysis thing, and I think, Hey, the more the merrier. Not really, but ... you know. Your mind is better than mine. Take it from me. ** L@stonivich, I hear you on all the Vegas related expenses for sure. I wonder if the GbV classic line-up tour rumor is for real. I wonder if I can worm the scoop out of Mr. Greer. Vegas is awfully close to LA, you know what I'm saying? I don't know. I'm so confused. ** _Black_Acrylic, Thanks for the nice words re: 'SiH', man. I really appreciate it. I think I may be stuck trying to stream the game surreptitiously mid-rehearsals today, which sucks. Go fucking Holland! The existence of that pedophile watch at Disneyworld blog is fascinating and horrifying. Everyone, courtesy of _Black_Acrylic via the Whitehouse website, here's a blog called 'Expose: Disney and 20/20 Pro-Pedophilia Bias. ** Christopher/ Mark, Hi, Mark. Lovely Forster quote, of course. Wish you were here. ** Misanthrope, When Bieber hair is walked down the street, in France at least, it sways pleasantly. Man, I do not understand even the tiniest little bit what the Robert Pattinson fetishizing is about. Not at all. I can recommend going the novel before theater route if you need any back up in your resolve. ** Alan, Ha ha, thanks, Alan. The Ryu Murakami piece might be my meanest ever, I don't know. I still feel slightly queasy about it. Boy, were his 'people' unhappy with it. I was literally told that I should 'watch my back'. Anyway, thanks a lot, man. ** I think that's the story. You guys have fun with (and get lots of nourishment from) Toniok's post today, okay? Promise me. I'll go help my pals here polish up our extravaganza. See you tomorrow.
