This makes me ridiculously happy / I'm so proud of my college

Well, it's not THAT big a deal, but every year, my college comes up with a summer reading list, in which they take book recommendations from various staff and faculty and compile them into a recommended reading list online. And what did I see this year but that The Hunger Games was recommended, not once, but TWICE, by two different people? The YA revolution is gradually but positively spreading to my school, which is, for the most part, full of stuffy falsely pretentious English majors who like to read only the classics and existentialist stuff! I think I kind of love this librarian.

Incredibly enough, I've found a few librarians who love to chat YA and exchange recommendations with me. Towards the end of 2009, I remember walking into my English class of 8 or so people, reading the second book in the Vampire Academy series. Anne, the librarian who was auditing the class (they get to do that, it's pretty cool), asked me about it, and when I told her it was pretty much the best YA vampire series out there, her eyes totally lit up as she said that she's been trying to look for good vampire lit. Barely a couple weeks later, she pulled me aside in the library and started to rave about Vampire Academy! She had read it over the weekend, couldn't put it down, and immediately rushed out to buy the next books. I love how encounters like these can happen, even at my school. LOVE. My librarians are awesome.
