15 things to do before a baby

So I found this link on The Nest on the 15 things to do before you have a baby. I thought I'd see how much I've done on this list.
  1. Go on a wine-tasting tour at a vineyard. Check. Hubby and I even got a chance to do this in New Zealand. It's gorgeous over there.
  2. Go skydiving/bungee jumping/swimming with sharks...or whatever other crazy, life-risking thing you’ve got on your bucket list. Incomplete. To be honest, I've never actually had any of this on my bucket list. I've never really had the "want" to do this, so it actually doesn't feel too bad that I can't check this off.
  3. Make a list of all the restaurants and bars you've been meaning to check out -- and go. Incomplete. Man, if I did this, I'd be going out every day. Although, this is a good thing to do, so I may create a new spreadsheet for it. I'm quite excited.
  4. Appreciate the bathroom -- alone. Check. I love the bathroom. Weird, I know, but I do.
  5. Stop being so self-righteous. Check. As much as I would like to ignore this fact, our child will throw tantrums. It's inevitable.
  6. Take a road trip. Check. I've been lucky enough to be able to take mini road trips with family and with the hubby. Growing up, the family always took road trips to Las Vegas. My longest road trip was with my family to Vancouver, Canada. What a trip!
  7. Be spontaneous. Check.
  8. Spend an entire day in bed together watching movies. Check. I always feel weird at first because I feel like I should be doing more, but in the end, it feels great to do nothing.
  9. Have boozy lunches with friends. Check. Love these.
  10. Feed your minimalist side. Check. The article was talking about buying a white couch and drinking wine on it before all the kids come and topple it over.
  11. Have morning sex. Check.
  12. Be the last ones to leave the party. Check.
  13. Fly first class. Incomplete. I've always wanted to do this. Maybe we'll do this on our trip to Hawaii this year.
  14. Wear as much silk, cashmere, dry-clean-only clothing as you possibly can, while you still can. Check. I don't always veer towards fancy clothes, but I do wear dry-clean-only clothing.
  15. Take a career risk. Check. I still feel like there are more career risks that may come along that I may go for, but so far I've done what has come my way.
Okay, it looks like I've done all but 3 on the list. Pretty good. I feel like I could get 2 of those things completed too. I'm actually surprised that traveling to different countries was not on the list. I always hear that one from people. Does this mean that I'm ready for the next stage in life? To have a little one?

Mini-Lake

Our mini lake across the street is diminishing now that it's getting warm again. The mallards won't have a place to chill soon. Very sad.

Happy Friday all! One of our beautiful days at Queenstown, New Zealand. Can't wait to go back.

Oh Music...

Seriously, it's about time someone mentions how crappy and horrible the music is now. That's why I don't really listen to mainstream radio stations anymore...

Ukulele

My uke! My birthday present from the Mister. I still only know a few cords, but I love the sound. I’ve actually already had to tune it. We didn’t purchase an automatic tuner, so I tuned it based on Ira’s guitar. Learned something new. Love it!

Issues

It’s always amazing how bad things tend to bring family and friends together again. Most of the time it turns out to be petty things too that bring the family or friends apart. Don’t get me wrong, when things go bad, I have a hard time setting aside my pride or getting enough courage to face the issue head to head. But do we really have to let it get to the point where a horrible situation is what brings the group back?

There are many times that I’ve seen this happen. Petty things that take years to get resolved only get confronted at a deathbed, or when someones in the hospital. It’s sad too because most of the time when it’s been confronted, the other party has already forgiven the situation as well. Everyone’s happier that it’s been put aside.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Find the courage to face the issue head on, otherwise you may just regret it.

Soul Searching

While my husband and I were on BART coming home from the Creative Inc. launch party, we had a small conversation that showed me just how much he truly knows me more than I might know myself. He knows exactly what I need to hear and how to tell me. It started because I was so motivated after meeting Meg Mateo Ilasco & Joy Cho.

Me: I love food and wedding planning so much, but I just don't know which one I should go for.
:Silence:
Husband: Maybe you just need to do some soul searching...alone...
Me: ...yea...I really do...
:Silence:
Me: What should I do?
Husband: Without me. You can't do soul searching with me. That's not the definition of being alone.
Me: You don't count. You're my second half of my soul. *huge grin*
:Silence:
Husband: *gag* Wow...you're such a girl... *gag*

Save the Words

I was watching this movie, Akeelah and the Bee yesterday at my in-laws house, and it got me thinking about how smart those kids are that compete in Spelling Bee's. The competition is seriously intense. Then it reminded me about this website, Save The Words, where you can get a word of the day, adopt a word, etc. It mentioned how hundreds of words are being dropped from the dictionary.

I am now in the mood to learn and use more words. My vocabulary is pretty minimal.

Word of the day: Pregnatress.
Female power that generates or gives birth or something.

Mod Kitty Backpack

I love this backpack! It would be a great gift for our flower girls, but I'm not sure they'll enjoy it as much as I would. Plus, it's not really in our price range for the gifts. Either way, this is something too cute to keep to myself. I must share. =)

Duckie

Awhile back, I came home from work and I found a new friend wandering around our house. He/she was a nice change of visitors from the huge bunnies that run across the street at night from the empty field across our house. I'm hoping he found his way to some lake.

Paper Cuts

I love Julene's work. It's all hand cut. Too bad our one year anniversary already passed. This would be a great one year anniversary gift. Especially since the one year anniversary gift is Paper. I'm still considering this as my parents gift, or maybe even something for our house in the future. Here are my 2 favorites.

Thumbody

He's just asking to be on a shirt or something.
Of course, I like everything else around Mr. Thumbody, but he stood out to me.

Television

We finally got our TV. We still don't have a connection though. All I've been doing today is watching movies on the new TV. Well, that and doing finances. I've had the house all to myself today. What else am I supposed to do but admire our new TV? I have to put it to good use while Ira's out playing and changing the oil in his car. hehe.

Yay! I'm excited!

This may be short for now, but I'm really excited. We're going to get pre-approved today. Our hold at the Hayward place got extended. We decided that place will be our last resort, and we shouldn't just settle for Hayward. If they can get the price down to the $400's, then we're going to take it. So we're going to find out how desperate they are.

The places in Fremont are really nice, so we're going to go see those older homes after we get pre-approved. Tita Lea sent us about 17 older listings of homes available in Fremont. The one we really like has 8 offers already. We're not really sure how that happened since the market sucks, so we're going to ask her why they have that many offers.

Also, I'm excited about this season of American Idol. I don't know why, I just think there's a lot more talent that the previous years. We're going to start a poll at work again like last season.

AND I'm excited because I got a 1593 in Virus Buster!!! Hell yea!

Time to finish getting ready. Gotta look pretty for pre-approval. hahaha.

Turkey's, Handbags & Shoes, Oh My!

So every few often, I get the joys of passing through turkey's to get into our company building. Late last week, everyone had the joy of seeing 3 large turkey's with their feathers all spread and everything. It was beautiful. On another note, I went to the mall near my house today, and I remembered that my coworker told me that Nordstroms had my handbag at the mall near work. So I decided to just see if this Nordstroms had it. Well...it did. It was the first one I saw. Once I touched it, it was over. The leather is so soft and shiny. The inside is so beautiful. Within 5 minutes, I had put the bag on the counter and paying for it. BUT, here is a pair of pretty shoes that I had purchased a few days earlier. I think I may have to return them now that I have my Hayden Bag. *WAAAAHHHH*
