You know Constellation Energy CEO Mayo Shattuck is looking out of the window in his office thinking, "Thank God I don't have to sit around letting Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley piss on me in front of the voters every few years anymore!"
Last week Constellation Energy announced plans to be acquired by Chicago-based Exelon Corporation. The move strips Baltimore -area of its last Fortune 500 corporation. There remain only a few money managers such as Legg Mason, which on its current track will be gone in a year or less, T. Rowe Price, and.....I can't think of anyone else. All of the other major employers in the city are smaller divisions of companies based in other states.
Martin O'Malley has always shown his cards when it comes to for-profit corporations. He hates them. He hates that they charge money for the services they provide. He hates that they have to raise their prices to cover expenses. And especially with Constellation Energy, the parent company of the soon-to-be-gone BGE, he really loved to takes dumps on them.
And as much as most rational-thinking Marylanders hate O'Malley, you have to give him credit as a skilled politician. You'll remember a few years ago BGE's decision to raise rates 72% to national average levels at the expiration of an ill-conceived bargain struck by Democrats in the Maryland General Assembly allowed O'Malley to criticize Bob Ehrlich for not fighting an ultimately kicking him out of office. You may remember the commercials that O'Malley ran vowing that he'd fight against the evil money-hungry corporations.
And now that the money-hungry corporations are gone, O'Malley must be so happy that he's peeing in his pull-ups. "We showed them!" I can hear him saying. Unfortunately, I think all of this is lost on him. What corporations can call Baltimore home? What glamor does the city have when it doesn't show up on any lists as the headquarters? Where is the concern when the top-paying jobs depart for the new headquarters in other cities and leave only entry-level, supervisory, and regional manager positions? Where are the major hometown corporate sponsors for special events in the city? From the offices in Annapolis we only hear silence or misguided happiness.
In the next session in the General Assembly, do you think we'll hear politicians discussing the demands of Marylanders to make Maryland a more business-friendly state? I seriously doubt it. Our elected officials will be more concerned with issues like raising taxes to fund the out-of-control spending and in the eyes of the Montgomery County delegation, the biggest issue confronting our society - gay marriage.

William Donald Schaefer: My Take
As you all know, William Donald Schaefer passed away last night. I think by law I'm obliged to eulogize him. So, in my own words, I am going to write about Mr. Schaefer as I remember him and also to respond to other things that I've heard and read about him.
Schaefer, Mayor Schaefer as most of us remember him, was first elected to the Baltimore City Council in 1955. I'm not positive, but I suspect that the Baltimore City Council was as corrupt then as it is now. In 1967 he was elected to Baltimore City Council President, a position proudly held by Martin O'Malley, Sheila Dixon, and Thomas Carcetti.
In 1971 Schaefer was elected to Mayor of Baltimore, all I may add before I was born. The 1960's and 1970's were not nice to Baltimore. Race riots, fires, white flight (or more politically correct - urban flight), the destruction of the middle class (read as the tax base), and the disappearing of businesses that employed the city residents. The business district was in decay, shopping was becoming non-existent, and the Inner Harbor became a rotting cesspool.
Schaefer entered office with the deck stacked against him. But with his charismatic personality and his tough-as-nails attitude, he attacked Baltimore's problems. I remember him saying that if you fill the pot-holes and pick up the trash, people will be happier. Legend has it that he would drive around the city looking for problems and report to the different city agency heads demanding that these problems be fixed. Carcetti did the same thing in The Wire. He used his powers (not sure if eminent domain was used) to redevelop the land around the Inner Harbor and dot it with tourist attractions. First came Harbor Place, then the National Aquarium in Baltimore, then the Science Center. He used the philosophy that 'if you build it, they will come.'
In 1986, Schaefer ran for Governor with Mickey Steinberg and crushed Republican challenger Thomas Mooney. Anyone remember him? Me neither. As Governor, he helped get the ball rolling on building Orioles Park at Camden Yards, the finest baseball park in all of the land. If you think your baseball stadium is cooler, you only think that because Camden Yards paved the way.
In 1999, after a 4 year absense from politics ( Gubernatorial term limits in Maryland - thank God!), Schaefer reemerged in Maryland politics as the State Comptroller. He served for several terms until finally being defeated by current State Comptroller Peter Franchot.
Many people loved the man and remember all of the good things he did for the city and state. However, I did hear one woman on the radio say today that he was the best Mayor, Governor, and Comptroller in the history of the state. He was definitely effective, but best ever?
There have been other great Governors of this state. Do you know of Governors Thomas Johnson, Albert Ritchie, Theodore McKeldin, and Robert Ehrlich? And Mayors? What about Ferdinand Latrobe, Howard Jackson, and Theodore McKeldin (the last Republican Mayor of Baltimore)? And Comptroller. I will flat-out say WRONG! Louis Goldstein was the greatest Comptroller in the history of the state of Maryland. And I met him when I was in elementary school.
Our current village idiot, Martin O'Malley, has been on the campaign circuit for his next position for the last 24 hours posing as a eulogist for our former Governor. When asked what Schaefer's claim to fame would be, he responded, not about his accomplishments in revitalizing Baltimore's Inner Harbor, but that he'd be proud of his willingness to talk to people and let them be heard. Really, Marty? Is that what you want in your epitaph? Shall I start carving that on your gravestone? I didn't think so. O'Malley seems to have a chronic case of diarrhea of the mouth.
And O'Malley, don't try to categorize yourself as a Democrat like Schaefer. Schaefer was a Reagan-Democrat. A moderate. Someone who represented the middle class and the broad spectrum of people that don't fully agree with either Republicans or Democrats. Schaefer endorsed George H.W. Bush (not G.W.).
Schaefer must also be remembered for his blunders. Remember when he called Anne Arundel County Executive 'old Mother Hubbard' when she was running against him as State Comptroller? Or when he said that the Eastern Shore was a shithouse? Remember Eastern Shore farmers clogging up Annapolis and circling the Governor's mansion with out-houses being towed with tractors until he apologized? Or when he said that people with AIDS are dangerous and we need a public registry so we know who has AIDS? And the leering at the butt of an assistant to Robert Ehrlich, asking her to come back and walk away again. Or his referring to women as little girls?
And let's not forget about the 2 blows to Baltimore that happened on his watch. In 1973 the Baltimore Bullets NBA team left for Washington (Landover). Then in 1984, the Baltimore Colts were ripped away from the city, tearing with it a bit of youth of many people my age. This was basically the result of a pissing match between him and Colt's demon Robert Irsay. Bob Irsay 1, Schaefer 0.
Then there was the pissing match between him and former (thank God) Governor Parris Glendening arguably the worst Governor of Maryland up until our current head of state. A fountain was dedicated to Schaefer's longtime partner Hilda Mae Snoops who died when he was in office. Dick, I mean Parris, turned off the fountain declaring that he needed to save water. I can't remember if this was before or after Glendening started having an affair with a woman that was his son's age. But it was definitely after he made gambling as a fund-raiser illegal, after he used it heavily in his effort to raise money as Prince George's County Executive running for Governor. Fortunately, former Governor Robert Ehrlich had more class and turned the fountain on with a nice ceremony.
Finally, one of my friends posted on Facebook "Baltimore is the way it is because of William Donald Schaefer. I wasn't quite sure how to take this. Outside of the revitalized downtown around the Inner Harbor, Baltimore is still plagued with corruption and crime. Baltimore's schools are the laughing stock of the nation and a thorn in the side of tax-payers across the state. Or the lack of an integrated public transportation rail system. I'm not saying that those are his fault, but those are problems that are common themes through the resumes of all of the Mayors of Baltimore.
My fondest memories of Willie Don, as he was affectionately known, was of him wading in one of the fish tanks at the National Aquarium when it opened and getting nasty with people that didn't agree with him. You have to appreciate his politically-incorrect courage to stand up and say what he thought was right and not say what was popular.
As my friend Duckman would say, "Willie Don, rest in peace". But we all know you're up there giving them hell!

O'Malley Campaign Losing Traction
Late week when the Ehrlich campaign delivered a debate proposal to Martin O'Malley's band of reveling fools, an O'Malley spokesman said that "Ehrlich is losing momentum in this campaign because he represents the past...".
Today, with the Ehrlich campaign continuing to lose momentum, they have caught up to O'Malley in the poll numbers. A Rasmussen poll now shows that race for governor is statistically tied, with Martin "I whiten my teeth" O'Malley receiving just over 45% of the vote and Ehrlich getting over 44%, but with the error margin at +/- 4%, they are statistically tied.
A recent Gonzales Poll showed similar results, declaring that there is no clear winner.
O'Malley, on the other hand, while taking breaks from brushing his hair and applying makeup, likes to cite his own doctored numbers which shows that he is the greatest Governor in the history of the land and that voters favor his massive historical tax increases and look forward to additional massive tax increases next year when there is no more stimulus money to fund current fixed expenditures.
Critics of both polls say that respondents do not include clueless people who have no phones (or clues) and will blindly support Democrats on all issues regardless of the consequences.
Hopefully O'Malley supports will take the advise of 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan and "Don't vote!". Of course he also said, "Did you know that in the amount of time it takes to vote you could play three games of pool? Three! Now that's fresh."

O'Malley - Duplicitous As Always
As reported on WBAL.com, Republican candidate for Governor Robert Ehrlich sent the O'Malley camp a letter requesting several debates. The letter proposed 5 debates between the current governor that everyone despises and the former governor that everyone loves, but can't believe they didn't vote for in the last election. Even my liberal friends are saying that Ehrlich didn't deserve to lose that one.

O'Malley Assigns Blame for Baltimore Murder
After much media hoopla and finger-pointing over the murder of 23 year old Johns Hopkins researcher Stephen Pitcairn, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has decided to jump on the blame bandwagon and has assigned the blame to Judge John Howard.
Judge John Howard twice released murderer John Wagner who was sent back to the streets to release his violent wrath upon society.
After learning that Judge John Howard was appointed by former Governor and current opponent Bob Ehrlich, it is easy to see why O'Malley is jumping on this. Though absolutely ludicrous, he will surely assign the blame of Stephen Pitcairn's murder to Bob Ehrlich. If Ehrlich hadn't appointed John Howard to his seat, then he wouldn't have released John Howard back on the streets and John Wagner would still be alive. Watch - it will happen.
In fact, O'Malley went on to say, "Whenever I appoint judges the question I always ask each and every one of them is will you send people to jail when they have a history and they are found guilty in front of you of shooting, robbing, committing crimes of violence against others". I'm sure he really says that. But the timing of the rhetoric is good, right?
The ridiculousness of this argument is obviated by the fact that judges and prosecutors in Baltimore City routinely release criminals back onto the streets. Thousands of criminals were released back onto the streets while O'Malley was mayor of the city that bleeds.
John Wagner is no anomaly. In fact, he's the status quo of the Baltimore judicial system. Two weeks ago Martin O'Malley would have praised John Wagner for giving these victims of society a second chance. Now the table has turned and he surely will use it as an opportunity to reassign blame.

O'Malley Admits "Tactical Mistake"
You've probably heard those hideous attack ads that O'Malley is running on the radio. I've blogged about them before. Funny how the incumbent is already on the attack. I thought it was the person running against the incumbent that was supposed to run the attack ads.
On WTOP radio today our smiling buffoon admitted that his attack ads that implied Ehrlich's guilt and involvement in the Gulf oil spill and his votes in Congress favor of big oil (which were bipartisan votes - meaning both parties voted for the bills) were "tactical mistakes" not lies like they really are.
O'Malley had repeatedly lied and implied or stated directly that Ehrlich was in the pockets of big corporations. You know the ones - the big corporations that are fleeing Maryland's high taxes and taking jobs with them. The big corporations that hire thousands of people. O'Malley hates big corporations that hire thousands of Marylanders.
Part of the problem with O'Malley is that he has two opponents. The first is former Governor Ehrlich, who now is creeping into the lead with probable voters. The other opponent is himself. People just plain don't like O'Malley right now. They don't like his arrogance. They don't like his condescension. They don't like his rhetoric. And they don't like the fact that he constantly blames everything on Ehrlich. As my wife always tells my kids: "Take responsibility for your actions." And O'Malley is just not doing that right now.
And probably most importantly, people don't like O'Malley's record as a governor. And that is haunting him. And because of his incompetence and failures, he is running against his own record.
This may be an election just like 2002. People didn't really vote for Ehrlich. They voted against Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. It's starting to look like people may again not be voting for Ehrlich, but against O'Malley. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully it's a nice repeat of 2002

Ehrlich for Governor? Not Much on Route 50
I wish I had pictures to show to prove this, but I did all of the driving home and I wouldn't ask my wife to take the pictures. A) she's a Democrat (I know - can you believe it?!!!) B) She already thinks I'm a dork, so I don't really need that pointed discussion on the 3 hour ride home from the beach.
Anyway, to and fro Ocean City, I noticed a plethora of signs begging people to vote for O'Malley \ Brown. The puke green signs litter the roadside like roadkill for nearly all 150 miles that we travel to the beach. So much so, in fact, that I wonder if O'Malley's band of stooges were placing these signs on state-owned property. And if so - is this legal? Many of the signs seemed to be posted in odd places.
And everyone knows that O'Malley is a big proponent of dirty tricks. You've heard his misleading advertisements on the radio, right? You konw - the ones that take things out of context and try to association Ehrlich with the oil spill in the Gulf?
Anyway, Ehrlich, on the other hand, did not have as many signs goin' down the ocean. When I did see signs, they were clustered with Andy Harris for Congress signs and Eric Wargotz for U.S. Senate signs, not sitting there alone like Kumar Barve on a roadside sobriety test.
We all know that the Eastern Shore is fairly conservative. Not quite as conservative as Carroll County and the other western counties, but the Eastern Shore would appear to be a pack of right-wing lunatics when compared to the irresponsible spending liberal extremists of Montgomery County.
However, I have to give O'Malley credit. He's not really campaigning on the Eastern Shore. He knows he's going to get his donkey kicked there. Anyway, to and fro Ocean City, I noticed a plethora of signs begging people to vote for O'Malley \ Brown. The puke green signs litter the roadside like roadkill for nearly all 150 miles that we travel to the beach. So much so, in fact, that I wonder if O'Malley's band of stooges were placing these signs on state-owned property. And if so - is this legal? Many of the signs seemed to be posted in odd places.
And everyone knows that O'Malley is a big proponent of dirty tricks. You've heard his misleading advertisements on the radio, right? You konw - the ones that take things out of context and try to association Ehrlich with the oil spill in the Gulf?
Anyway, Ehrlich, on the other hand, did not have as many signs goin' down the ocean. When I did see signs, they were clustered with Andy Harris for Congress signs and Eric Wargotz for U.S. Senate signs, not sitting there alone like Kumar Barve on a roadside sobriety test.
We all know that the Eastern Shore is fairly conservative. Not quite as conservative as Carroll County and the other western counties, but the Eastern Shore would appear to be a pack of right-wing lunatics when compared to the irresponsible spending liberal extremists of Montgomery County.
However, I have to give O'Malley credit. He's not really campaigning on the Eastern Shore. He knows he's going to get his donkey kicked there. O'Malley Ads on WBAL
So what's the deal with the totally obnoxious ads being played by the O'Malley campaign on WBAL radio?
I
f you look at the demographics, the vast majority of the listeners are conservative, working families, who want common-sense government. This is in total contrast to the average O'Malley voter.
WBAL, on the other hand, must accept these ads in all fairness. And if you're a business, you're not likely to turn down good money.
I suggest that the O'Malley campaign is running these ridiculous 'fairly tale' ads with the sole purpose of annoying the voting base of Bob Ehrlich. Think about it. Are these ads going to change the minds of these listeners? Not at all. Will the listeners suddenly want to vote for a governor who is championing massive spending programs funded by borrowed money - money that will have to be repaid with massive tax-hikes that will strip the middle-class of their lifestyle?
If you are a liberal pro-O'Malley voter, I would think that you would be fairly irritated that the Democratic Party in Maryland is wasting your campaign contributions on such frivolous, unproductive, and wasteful attack ads.
But if that's how O'Malley wants to waste your money - I'm all for it!

Democrats Endorse the Democrats!!!
I read a lot of blogs and of course the newspapers. Sometimes I wonder if they realize how meaningless some of what they write really is.
Take the blog Maryland Politics Watch. They announced that Governor Martin O'Malley has endorsed the socialist-leaning pro-illegal immigration incumbents in District 18 of Montgomery County, which include State Senator Madaleno, and Delegates Carr, Gutierrez, and Waldstreicher. And O'Malley had to throw in that they are helping Maryland move forward. That's an opinion. And it's meaningless. Forward to what? That bright shiny light?
Then our friends over at Red Maryland announced that they endorse former Governor Bob Ehrlich for Governor.
Really?
How meaningful is it when your cronies endorse you? It would certainly be news if O'Malley endorsed someone other than the members of the Montgomery County District 18 team that is full of liberals. It would be meaningful if he nominated Doug Duncan for something after bullying him out of the Governor's race several years ago. It would be news if he endorsed a Republican. But endorsing your friends is not news.
And I love Red Maryland. They have been pointing out O'Malley's colossal failures for several years and have been a pulpit to promote Ehrlich in his reelection bid. Yesterday they announced that they endorse Ehrlich for Governor. I guess they just needed to be on record endorsing him, but this isn't really news.

O'Malley Versus Ehrlich in Montgomery County
If you don't read Maryland Politics Watch, they wrote an excellent article on the lack of leverage the Montgomery County elected officials have on politics in the state of Maryland.
I've often read that the Montgomery County delegation, despite being 100% liberal Democrat, is disorganized, divided, and often plays second-fiddle to the powerful and organized lunatic delegation of Baltimore City.
Can Bob Ehrlich use this to his advantage? Perhaps. It's certainly easy to point out that the politicians that have been elected by Montgomery County voters are getting walked on by the other members of the General Assembly and Governor O'Malley, as MPW has pointed out.
Definitely read their article.

Bob Ehrlich for Governor!
It's official. Bob Ehrlich has finally thrown his hat in the ring for Governor. Everyone knew that he was going to run, but no one knew if he was going to run.
I think the sentiment in Maryland, and across the country for that matter, is very anti-establishment, just like it was 4 years ago when the Republicans were in office. This time it's the Democrats. However, since a good chunk of Maryland is such an anti-Christian Socialist-leaning state, especially down in Montgomery County, I'm still not sure if he can win.
I do think, however, that his chances this time are better than they were during the last election when America had had enough of the Republicans, the war, and the economy and booted the bumbs out. I'm all in favor of booting the bumbs out. As I've mentioned many times there needs to be higher turnover in politics and I would love to see term-limits.This time, the economy still sucks. Maryland's unemployment is still hovering around 10% and Martin O'Malley should not be rewarded for that.
The Democrats in Congress have passed massive legislation committing trillions of dollars to a new health insurance program. Not we have to figure out how pay for it. Obama said it will be paid for by eliminating middle-men and streamlining operations. For anyone that has ever owned a business you know that this is mostly bullpoop. So now we really have to figure out how to pay for it. And since Martin O'Malley is a Democrat, he is guilty by association and should not be rewarded for bankrupting our children's future.
Martin O'Malley said that he was going to stop BIG utility companies from raising their rates. He lied. He let them raise their rates. Not once. But several times. And in exchange for raising rates, he got Constellation Energy to give away millions of dollars. Having Martin O'Malley in the pockets of BIG utilities is no different than Republicans being in the pockets of BIG utilities, so since Martin O'Malley lied, he should not be rewarded with another term.
Another thing to consider is that while Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1 in Maryland, that statistic is misleading. Many people are registered as Democrats because the Republican party is so small in Maryland. Take my parents, for example. Both are registered Democrats because they know that voting in the Republican primaries is not going to have much of an impact, so if they can choose the most moderate Democrat, they can pull the political thought closer to the middle where most Americans really stand.
So here is my prediction - if Republicans come out in force and ALL vote for Ehrlich and a bunch of Democrats also vote for him and Democrats are disillusioned or over-confident and don't show up at the polls, he has a chance to win. However, if O'Malley's hypnotising babbling rhetoric convinces people that he's a political god, then Ehrlich will lose.
Let's hope that I'm not confident enough in my predictions.

O'Malley: Iraq and Hard Place
Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley just visited occupied Iraq claiming it was to visit Maryland National Guard troops. While there he held up the Maryland flag for a photo-op, ate some barbecue, put on his fake smile, thanked the soldiers, and left.
I don't have a problem with the spirit of the visit. We all want to thank our troops for putting their lives on the line. Many of us actually do things like coordinate gift packs, books, magazines, etc. for the soldiers. Marty had to do something so that he didn't look like an callous fool come election day.
But you must ask yourself - how much money did it cost the state of Maryland to fly him there and how much did we have to foot for his protection? God help us if Marty got blowed up. (I heard students from Baltimore City saying 'blowed-up', and since B-more City teachers and elected officials say that the students have made great strides, then 'blowed-up' it is!)
However, like Ehrlich, I question the true reasons for the visit. You know he has an ulterior motive for going there. Now he can go to the military voters (overwhelmingly Republican) and say, "I support the troops! I went to Iraq!!! Go America!!!"
We all know Marty is going to run for Gov'nah again and it's probably safe to say (God help us) that he will win again. But he's clearly lining himself up for a run at Senator. If Babsy runs again, it is probably safe to say (God help us) that she'll win again, she'll finish her term and be done, leaving her seat wide-open for him. John Sarbanes - there ain't no way in H-E-double hockey stick you're going to get that U.S. Senate seat if you run against Marty (God help us).
So on top of Ehrlich doing the mandatory criticism of O'Malley taking this trip during an state-wide economic crisis (which may be to redirect the attention of our short-minded voters), Tony Brown immediately responds by saying that Ehrlich's criticism is irresponsible. I was hoping that Ehrlich would respond to Tony's criticism by saying it was partisan, to which Tony could have replied that Erhlich's rebuttal was inappropriate, to which Ehrlich could have responded that Tony's rebuttal was immature. And so on. And so on.
I love the juvenile nature of politics!!!

Maryland's State of the State
Pretty Boy O'Malley will deliver the State of the State address today at noon. It's delivered at noon instead of during prime time hours so that O'Malley won't miss The Biggest Loser tonight at 8pm. He can relate to that show.
I have my predictions about what Marty will say at noon. He'll start by talking about how he is going to create jobs. He knows that he does not have the power to create any jobs other than bureaucratic state jobs, but he'll take credit for the private sectors' hiring. He'll probably also take credit for the jobs that were created by the federal government in Maryland. He'll mention how he is pushing for a tax credit for each employee that is hired, but will fail to mention that he is still seeking an industry that is unorganized so that the General Assembly can tax the crap out of it.
He will say that we are working our way through one of the toughest economic periods in several generations, economic turmoil brought on by greedy businesses, unsavory lending practices by big Wall Street banks, and the mismanagement of our economy by the previous administration. Yes. Despite being in office for 3 agonizing years now (Dear Lord, please convince O'Malley to resign. If he does I'll send him one of my horny fat cousins so she can give him a lap dance), Governor O'Malley will still blame George W. Bush and Governor Ehrlich for all of the problems that the state of Maryland currently suffers.
Yadda-yadda-yadda. O'Malley will mention that crime is down across the state due to coordinated efforts amongst our hard-working law-enforcement officials, though he won't mention that the weather has been too cold for the thugs to go outside and shoot up each other.
Governor O'Malley will mention that he hasn't raised taxes in several months, though I suspect that he will spin his previous tax increases as common sense tax increases on the wealthy and big businesses that were not paying taxes, while failing to mention that he defines "wealthy" as households that make over $40,000 and honestly how many businesses are still in Maryland? They all moved to Virginia!
Marty will also mention slots as a source of future revenue and he'll state that he has worked hard with local and state officials to get the job done - despite the fact that the job is not done. He won't mention that his administration has failed to get one single slots parlor open. He'll fail to mention that the Anne Arundel County slots parlor has failed. He'll won't mention that the slots parlor in Baltimore City has failed. He won't mention that the slots parlor at Rocky Gap has failed. He won't mention that the slots parlor in Ocean City has failed. He won't mention that his legislation is so unreasonable that several slots operators have "politely" told him 'no thanks'. Martin O'Malley also won't mention that if slots would have been passed 6 years ago during the Ehrlich administration, they would be up and running and the state of Maryland would be benefiting from the revenues that are generated.
And my favorite - O'Malley will say that he is helping to move Maryland forward. Forward as if we are moving toward a goal. An ambiguous goal. With no defining characteristics. But we are moving there. What does moving forward mean anyway? I plan on counting how many times he says 'moving forward'. If it is over 10 times then we all win a prize.
So while no one will hear the State of the State address (other than some local news reporters, politicians, and the local talk show hosts), I will do my best to hear it and give you the feedback that your crave. Though I suspect you'll be more interested to know who gets kicked off of The Biggest Loser tonight.

No Republican Governor Candidate?
Republican Larry Hogan made it official today - he is not running as the Republican candidate against incumbent socialist-leaning, tax & spend liberal, but oh so cute Martin O'Malley.
Hogan stated that he his confident that former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich will go against O'Malley to win his seat back. However, the former Governor has made no commitment yet, and as of now, with only 9 months to go until the general election, I think there is no Republican candidate for Governor.
Alan Keyes - where are you? Doesn't Alan Keyes run for every position? He's run for President several times. Maybe he can jump in there. Not that I'm endorsing him. Chuck Ecker is retiring as the Carroll County Superintendent of Schools. He ran in 1998 against Sauerbrey for the Republican candidacy. Maybe he could consider another run in his retirement. Thomas Mooney - he once ran for Governor against William Donald Shaefer, though he got his ass kicked when Willy Don got 82% of the vote. Pat Sajak is out there. He lives in Maryland. Is he a Republican?
Who can beat Irish Mug? I'm not real sure the Governor Ehrlich can win a rematch with Slick Marty. I agree, as do most Marylanders, that he's jacked up taxes across the state that impact hard-working middle class and poor families (remember, the sales tax is regressive as it hits poor people disproportionately), and he is robbing from the rainy day funds to pay for programs today. That stimulus money isn't going to keep on showing up so that Marty can have thousands of do-nothing lap dogs in Annapolis.
So what's a Marylander to do? I can retire in 30 years and move to South Carolina. But until then, I'm just not sure.

Who can beat Irish Mug? I'm not real sure the Governor Ehrlich can win a rematch with Slick Marty. I agree, as do most Marylanders, that he's jacked up taxes across the state that impact hard-working middle class and poor families (remember, the sales tax is regressive as it hits poor people disproportionately), and he is robbing from the rainy day funds to pay for programs today. That stimulus money isn't going to keep on showing up so that Marty can have thousands of do-nothing lap dogs in Annapolis.
So what's a Marylander to do? I can retire in 30 years and move to South Carolina. But until then, I'm just not sure.
