Labor Day...

Well it's Labor Day kids.  A day to uh, I don't really know what Labor Day is supposed to be all about.  I guess we're supposed to honor the American worker or something.  But, if we really honored the American worker we would quit supporting politicians who give companies huge tax brakes for moving jobs overseas and shit.

Labor Day is also the unofficial end of summer.  After today we're told that we can no longer wear white. Not sure when we can wear white again.  I guess next Memorial Day? Nobody ever really explained that one to me. And because I refuse to conform to these silly societal rules, I plan on wearing white TOMORROW and then several time after that throughout the winter in protest.  I'm even thinking of getting a white coat to wear on the really cold days.  I'm a rebel like that.

After today is also illegal to listen to Bruce Springsteen's "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" again until next Memorial Day.  Again, more silliness.  But, I guess it also does bring an end to my very favorite fashion trend of the summer.  Women walking around town wearing bikini tops and short cut-offs.  I have no idea who started this fashion trend but he/she is brilliant and I hope they get recognized as such by the appropriate fashion people.

Of course, this being an election year, Labor Day means the kick off to most political campaigns.  It also means we'll be bombarded with political ads non-stop until election day.  God help us.  Someday when I win the lottery I'm going to vacation in another country from Labor Day until the Monday after election day every two years.  What a wonderful world it would be without political ads.

In the sports world Labor Day is huge.  It's the beginning of the big stretch run in baseball as teams push for division titles and trying to make the playoffs. And, it's the kick off to football season, rendering baseball irrelevant. Well, for most people. Not for people whose fantasy baseball teams made the playoffs.

Yeah, whose fantasy team, The Swingers, won five straight to end the season and made the playoffs? Mine did bitches!  My first ever fantasy baseball season and I made the playoffs.  I'm both happy and sad about it.  I mean, making the playoffs is fun and it's nice to do well at something.  But, I've got three fantasy football teams to worry about also.  I don't have time to deal with my baseball team anymore.  To be honest with you, fantasy baseball has just about worn me down.  I've had to pay way more attention to baseball that I like and the daily grind is brutal.  I'll probably never play again.

But, even if my fantasy baseball team goes down in flames in the playoffs, I'll at least have college football to cheer me up...

Mmmmm .... Mormon cheerleaders.

Well anyway, enjoy the Law and Order, CSI, NCIS, House and Hanna Montana marathons today folks.  After today the holidays will be coming at us like a freight train.
