The Dreadful Flying Glove presents ... Windows

----

1. If a person wants to develop or extend the perihelion period in the orbit of the Earth, he can think about the idea of proximity to the sun during the day, in such a way that he is more likely to reach perihelion during any night which occurs. This can be freely used by subjects of all ages to extend the period and displacement of the Earth's orbit as far as Mars.

2. "From sea to shining sea". Across the wilderness they tramped. Like the European fascists who followed, the pilgrims were essentially petit bourgeois whose stern impassioned stress makes you want to throw up.

3. Liminal states collapse all the time. They are not there to be sustained. As they collapse, we may glimpse a panoply of other states which we have never conceived of. Say cheese: cheese.

4. We are apparently a generation caught in perpetual self-regard. But we cannot look at ourselves steadily, and flee, looking over our shoulders.

5. Lint said, "Every ten seconds somewhere in the world, someone is realising I am right." He was occasionally successful in such exercises as changing the colour of the sky. This was before the War, of course.

6. The first light guns appeared in the 1830s, following the development of light-sensing vacuum tubes. The Highland Light Infantry (1881 - 1959) pioneered the use of these weapons, and many innovations can be attributed to their sterling efforts. These early weapons required manual reloading. A 5"/35 caliber semiautomatic light gun was developed for use on fleet submarines during World War II. Used extensively by the United States in Polynesia and sundry other areas of darkness. After victory in 1952, the Reich began to cultivate the skies of Europe.

p.s. Hey. The Dreadful Flying Glove returns to bewitch the blog today. Please see stars and tell your kind guest-host how they look and where they are. Thank you, TDFG. It's always a great honor. As for the rest of you, thanks in advance. It's cleaning/ exile day at the Recollets, so let's do this. ** Allesfliesst, Oh, thank you kindly for that, Kai. I really appreciate it. Gisele was just telling me about the Steirischer Herbst Reader thing this morning, a prelude to the shows in Graz, I think? ** Oscar B, Close you eyes, and click your heels three times. ** David, Thanks a lot, David. Phew re: your sleep study being on the schedule. How are you doing, feeling? ** Paul Curran, After seeing those photos I posted yesterday, I wonder less why Russian porn is so introverted and melancholy. Your grin sounds exhilarating. Yeah, very nice. I suppose your face is all scrunched in concentration by now, which isn't such a bad look either. ** Pilgarlic, 'Bleak seek', nice. I think I'm one of those seekers. Porn subculture isn't entirely dead in Europe. Or at least not in Germany as far I can tell. Amsterdam used to be incredibly ripe, as it were, back in the 80s, but not now. The French don't seem to be all that into porn even though they've made some of the best gay examples. ** David Ehrenstein, Yury said he's seen playgrounds like that around, but he says most playgrounds in Russia look like everywhere else's. Sure enough, the news and airwaves here are already full of pundits and talking heads accusing Sarkozy of exaggerating and exploiting the so-called terror alert. Almost no one here is giving him an inch. The big Carla Bruni news over here has to do with a newly released unofficial bio of her that claims she's still the rampaging, adulterous slut she always was. Ah, France! ** Oliver, Hey, Oliver! Thanks a lot, man. ** Tim Jones-Yelvington, Hey there, Tim! Yeah, they really are, aren't they? Oh, I really like that new piece of yours that got posted on HTMLG the other day. Fantastic work. In fact ... Everyone, the top notch writer and d.l. Tim Jones-Yelvington had a new, short, and really excellent piece of fiction featured on HTMLGIANT the other day, and I highly recommend it to you. Go here. ** Bernard Welt, I remember our disparate views on that Toby Ross film. What I don't remember is whether it was at that big old porn theater on 9th Avenue or at the modest sized one that was sort of vaguely near Carnegie Hall. That pee guy really does sound Bressonian. ** Alan, Hey. Scariest day ever? Cool. Just gearing up for Halloween, I think. Really interesting about the late stage structure change. How did it read in the clear light? I have some heavy moving ahead of me in the mess of a last section. Your stick to it-iveness is inspiring. ** El Caimán Divino, Hey. Very glad you found the pix compelling. You're finishing a novel? Me too. Alan too. Chilly Jay Chill too. And probably others I'm forgetting. Yeah, major luck and lit candles and avoiding sidewalk cracks to you. What's the novel 'about' or working with or whatever? ** Christopher/ Mark, Hi, Mark. Yeah, the bicycle had this beautiful sort of Beuys meets Rauschenberg thing going on. I know nothing about the PC to Apple transference stuff, but you saw The Dreadful Flying Glove's comment/ advice, yes? He knows his stuff. ** Jose, Hey, man. My novel's majorly changed since then. I think only the chateau, Pierre Clementi as the father, and Isabelle Adjani as the mother are left at this point. How are you, J? ** Nicki, I think I could manage a cheek pinch or two. A head rub. I think that's the extent of my cuddliness. Anyway, I want to meet him. Maybe in London sometime when he's more portable? Love to you, pal. ** Misanthrope, About art and need, yep. WWE Raw is in France this weekend? Either it's long since sold-out or not in Paris because the metro stations would be plastered with gigantic posters otherwise. Still, I'll fish around. Thanks, G-ster. ** Pisycaca, Hey, Montse. I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling down, but, yeah, I remember how wobbly the first year was after my mom died. Are the problems with aunt getting resolved at all? Too bad you won't be here this weekend. Michael and I would get all in your face and distracting. If Xet has time, that would be great. If not, as I suspect, tell him I'll be blowing kisses in Versailles' general direction. ** Davidc, Hey! Oh, that's very unfortunate indeed, damn. If we have an open rehearsal or something, I'll let you know, and I hope I'll get to see you in any case. Happy happy 8th to you and Dominic! May the beverages and fur fly. ** Eli Jürgen, Hey. Oh, those Russian dolls within dolls are cool. The times I was in Moscow, there were a billion different kinds, and I wanted every overly expensive one of them. I don't remember one as meaningful, ha ha, as that Britney one though. I'd snag it if I were able. I like conspiracy theories too, but in a distant way. Like, hm, this would be an interesting structure for a novel, and stuff like that. It takes a lot for me to feel doomed or feel like I'm duped on the outside of something. Or something. ** Juan carlos olivas, Hey, welcome, and thank you very much. Your blog looks very rich, and I curse my inability to read it intricately. Please come back anytime, and thank you again, and take care. ** _Black_Acrylic, Hi, Ben. Cool about that Trecartin/ Guardian piece. I'll peruse it later, and thank you. And the winning video too. Meanwhile, ... Everyone, here's the winner of the AGK event/ contest I mentioned yesterday. It's by, in _Black_Acrylic's words, 'Rachel Maclean. It's a "sexy, sugary" interpretation of Lady Gaga and it really is a knockout.' ** Bollo, Gaugin, right. Thanks. I was still wracking my brains for his name. Yeah, don't go there. I have a tete a tete with Stephen on the agenda, and I'll see what I can foretell. I don't think I know Steve Hauschildt's solo stuff. Hm, I think I'll fix that. ** Steevee, Man, you're beset. I'm so sorry about the added ankle issues. Hope you get that asap appointment. Big congrats on the Film Comment column gig. I'll be very interested to see what films make your cut. Thanks a lot for the fill-in on the Apichatpong and Kiarostami films. I'm dying to see the former at least. Maybe there'll be a subtitled torrent around soon. Very nice add on to the post yesterday. I'll do more than glance at it shortly. Everyone, here's the fine writer and d.l. Steevee: 'In the spirit of today's (Ed note: yesterday's) photos, here are some photos of beautiful mushrooms.' ** Im not an asbo im your next Prime minister, Well, try to keep in mind that boy in the Bruce Davidson photo is probably old enough by now to be your grandpa, if that helps. Well, unless it's a recent photo, in which case you're on your own. Funny you should say that about the new fondness for biting since I was putting together the next escort post the other day when I noticed that, in every other ad, the escort inevitably ends his schpiel with 'I don't bite (unless you want me to) ;)'. ** The Dreadful Flying Glove, I just had this sinking feeling that maybe I didn't alert you that your post was launching today. Gulp. If so, apologies and, well, surprise! Thank you, big Glove. It's exquisite. It truly is. You had the most amazing read/ response on the post yesterday. Just mindbogglingly right on, insinuating, and gorgeous. Man, thank you for that. ** Brendan, Whoo-hoo re: Friday. LA can be a very lonely place, yeah. It's weird that way. It's like in that old Beach Boys gem 'Busy Doing Nothing'. Tons of self-reliance required. You need a hardcore friend or friends or a squeeze. Sometimes it seems easier to import them than to find them there, though. I bet when you're back more happily into your art making, you'll feel better. Love to you, B. ** Chris Cochrane, 'Helicopter' is magnificent. It blows me away that I had anything to do with it. I'm getting back to Ben about the flights and stuff today, better late than later, I guess. See you soon or soonish indeed. ** Here's where I got exiled. It's an hour later. ** Inthemostpeculiarway, Oh, Marilyn Manson, right, I did read about that, come to think of it. Oh, well. (Not a huge MM fan here). I had an eight word conversation with the Monop guy once, but I don't think that counts. Yury dyes clothes once in a while. Always black. I guess black clothes fade? You're always reading books I've never heard of. I feel like I should know what 'One Day' is. Nice about your scared friend's cute friend. It's about time you had a new regular cute guy to talk about. Is he candidate material? My Tuesday: Mostly novel work again. Slow and steady. I didn't step outside all day, in fact. It looked nice through the window, though. Warm, blue. More trying to figure out a solution to my current poverty/debt. Nothing yet, but some feelers at least. I got this really good short book in the mail -- David Peak's 'Museum of Fucked' -- and read it straight through, and I was starting to build a 'Three books I read ...' post around it when I saw the book was ltd. ed. and totally sold out. Really good, if you find it somewhere. In the evening, I went down to Kiddiepunk's room, and he, Oscar, and I watched his newly arrived DVD of Harmony Korine's 'Trash Humpers'. First, I think it's probably the most exciting film I've seen since 'Enter the Void' or the last Ryan Trecartin. Really great. If I was to nitpick, I think the first 45 minutes or so are genius -- everything up to the firecrackers scene on the bridge, if you've seen it -- and after that it starts to run out of inspired ideas and parts seem kind of forced and self-conscious. Still, it's really something. By the end of that, bed pretty much called. What is it, Wednesday? So, how was it? ** Sypha, Hey. Thanks, James. ** Laurabeth, Hi, LB. It sounds you've been having yourself a fine old time. Ghosts, fling, parties, inspiring roommates. Awesome, pal. Thanks for the cheer and for, well, for you. ** Nb, Okay, mine's weirder. You got me. I don't know, are there spooky houses in reach of NYC or even, god forbid, in NYC itself? Can you scout for me? If I don't visit at least one spooky house while Stateside, something baaaaad is going to happen. ** Killer Luka, Bud! All my biggest fans look like or are Mike Patton. Weirdest thing. You already know the answer to your fisting question. You can feel it in your bones. Feel it. Fingers crossed to the point of no return until dusk Thursday. ** Alec Niedenthal, Hi, Alec. Oh, January. I'll preserve my luck's energies. Reading: just read David Peak's 'Museum of Fucked', finished Tao's 'RY', am still inside Blake's and Justin T's new ones. The 'new' Duvert. I forget what else. Novel's going pretty okay right now. Haven't read Tom McCarthy's new one. Loved 'Sleepless Nights' like you did. I'm still saving Proust for a future whenever. It's just too much to imagine addressing right now. Dude, you didn't sound like a dick. You sounded great. ** Destroyed beyond emptiness, Wow, that's superb, unexpected, damn straight, and a relief to boot about the BA. You're kind of charmed or something, no? Seems so a bunch of the time. Yeah, that's super great. I'm very happy, D. Grin and grin and grin. You deserve it. ** Okay, this is really late, which is mostly the fault of the cleaning, but I guess I could have started the p.s. earlier. Anyway, it's all about you guys and The Dreadful Flying Glove until tomorrow at minimum. See you then.
