Blogger Surgery, Give Aways and ER Finale ....

Karen from Smiling Through it All went in for a bit of surgery this afternoon. I don't know any details, but she surprised us all by posting on Twitter around noon that she was having surgery at 3. (See how useful Twitter can be! It's not all discussions about which muppet or Sesame Street Character is mostly likely to be a crack addict. People post important stuff on there too!)

Tonight, around 8 she posted that she was in bed trying to get some sleep.

So, if you could, take a minute to go over to her blog and send her some good vibes and maybe send some prayers her way if it's your thing. I'm sure she would greatly appreciate it.

*UPDATE* .... Karen posted an update for us RIGHT HERE.

Do you like winning things? I do. Winning is fun. And free is awesome! Did you know that Farmers*Wife gives free stuff away from time to time over on her blog Glass Half Full Gal?

WELL SHE DOES!

You know how I know this? Cause I freaking won! That's how.

See Farmer*Wife is an expert at saving money. She knows how to work the system and dig up deals and maximize the value of coupons. And, she has decided that she will share this talent, and the freebies, with us. How cool is that?

Basically what she does is she gets deals, as in free samples and free products on household items such as Gain Dryer Sheets and then she holds drawings over on her blog and gives them away.

All you have to do is comment on the posts where she is giving something away. No purchase necessary!

I won the dryer sheets already. But, if you go to Glass Half Full Gal you can find other giveaways going on right now.

Oh, and when you win she will also send a copy of all the comments and all kinds of helpful hints on ways to save money and make your products last longer and all that good stuff.

Go over to Glass Half Full and start winning! And hang out and chit chat with Farmers*Wife and everyone else there too. She's pretty cool. She loves Shiner Bock. Anyone who loves Shiner Bock Beer is alright with me.

So, while I'm typing this I'm watching the final episode of ER. I haven't watched the show in years. I gave up on the show two or three years after Dr. Mark Green died. I just didn't feel any connection to any of the characters. Oh sure, I've always thought Abby was super beautiful...

But the story lines started to get a bit repetitive and I lost interest. Actually, it wasn't that I just couldn't make any connections with any of the characters, I down right disliked most of them. So I just stopped watching it.

Back in the day though, back when Dr. Mark Green, and Dr. Doug Ross and Dr. Elizabeth Corday and all the great ones were on there ER was as good as there was on TV. The main reason I'm watching the finale is because a lot of those folks will be tonight. I'm almost hoping that they're all sitting around in the same place and a helicopter crashes into the place. It would be tragic and funny all at the same time. Okay, they probably won't do that.

I'm not going to say that "they don't make them like that anymore" cause it's not true. There's actually a lot of good stuff on TV. It's just not all concentrated on the networks anymore. In fact, most of the good stuff is on cable and on the premium sites.

I'm not a TV snob though. I watch some pretty low brow stuff. I readily admit that. Although I still like to look down on the low brow stuff I don't watch. I know a lot of people love to talk about all they don't watch TV and when they do it's only the really critically acclaimed stuff or PBS or whatever. That's cool, if that's what you like. I like to think that my interests are varied. I like a variety of stuff.

One of the few applications on Facebook that I use is this LivingSocial thing were I can list my top five movies, books, presidents, TV shows etc. You can kind of customize it too. So, I've been posting all my favorites each day in different categories. I'm pretty sure nobody gives a shit, but that's okay. The only problem is that you can only list five at a time. So when it comes to sitcoms from back in the day I have to post two, three or even four lists cause there were so many good ones.

Okay, I will say that sitcoms were much better when I was growing up than they are now. I do watch a few of them now. Big Bang Theory, New Adventures of Old Christine, The Office and 30 Rock. But, I don't think those shows are as good as the sitcoms I watched growing up.

Well anyway, the show is over now. The finale was okay, I guess. It reminded me of why I quit watching the show a few years back though.

Okay, I guess that's enough of my boring rambles. So did you watch the ER finale? What did you think of it?

And is there any TV show that you remember watching that you really, really wish was still on and that you really, really miss it and the characters on the show?
