The Logotherapy is a school of psychology founded by Viktor E. Frankl, professor of neurology and psychiatry at the University of Vienna. Frankl completed his humanistic education, after the Second World War in which he was imprisoned in several concentration camps, with a doctorate in philosophy that culminated in his thesis entitled "ignored the presence of God." has written 28 books, the best known is the one who recounts his experience of life during the war titled "A psychologist in the concentration camp" and in our was released as "Man's Search for Meaning."
Your psychotherapeutic theory is based on a conception of the whole person including a biological, psychological and spiritual. With this idea anthropological studies the situation of the man of our time and in the search for meaning, the deepest existential task itself.
This perspective completely changes the basis on which underpins the various schools of psychology, which generally have only a psychosomatic and social vision of human beings. The absence of spirituality, curtails the most distinctive of human beings and it is tied to conditionalities, whether biological, psychological or socioeconomic boundaries. Jaspers in his General Psychopathology observation was a sharp criticism of psychoanalysis: "Instead of starting, as Freud, from sexual or vital, you can start from the spiritual development of man and his psychology. Freud sees justice extraordinary what happens to the repression of sexuality. But not even ask what happens to the repression of the spirit. "
